My thyroid surgery in 1999 marks the start of asking medical professionals for help with weight gain. I remember being size 10 and about 146 pounds and thinking my legs were still too heavy. At the time of surgery, I was 152. When I get back to 152, that will be the new starting point, correcting what I had wanted to correct then! Five months after starting on thyroid medication, I had evidence of responding normally to diet and exercise. So, now that I'm responding normally, it's time to get to work!

Reduce at least one pound a week.

Reduce food intake after the holidays to encourage at least a 250-300 calorie deficit a day.

Show up, do, follow through

Keep getting back on the plan when I get off. Create workout plans that allow for progress as well as flexibility.

Keep refining diet and create more strategies for different occasions.
