Hi! I'm Becky. I just moved to St. Louis after completing my Ph.D. in math at the University of Michigan.

SP is helping me to lead a healthy(-ish) lifestyle while making new friends with like-minded goals. :) This includes preparing more meals from scratch and making sure I am getting enough vitamins and nutrients from food sources, rather than a multivitamin. I am also a recreational runner (usually only short distances of 1-3 miles, 3-5x per week).

I have an appreciation for almost all kinds of food (fast food and healthy food alike) and find that moderation works for me. The only foods I tend to avoid are ones that contain unnatural sources of trans fats (partially hydrogenated oils), but I would like to eat more fresh fruits & veggies and less meat while keeping my daily protein intake above 60 grams.

Average intake: 1700-1925 cal/day (less active) or 2000-2200 cal/day (more active) ... but I stopped meticulously counting a while ago.

My Goals:
- Maintain an active lifestyle by walking/biking/running whenever possible.
- Drink more water (8 glasses/day).
- Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night.
- Run an official 5K in less than 30 minutes. (DONE!)
- Increase strength with regular resistance training (circuits).

My Program:
- Increase daily consumption of fruits and veggies. (5-9 servings/day) Less emphasis on meat.
- Whole grains whenever possible. Minimize intake of refined/processed foods.
- Drink 6 to 10 glasses of water a day.
- Walk/jog/bike for workouts, primarily.
- Strength training 2 or 3 days a week. (I'm really bad about this...)

Happy Monday : )! Thanks for stopping by to comment on my blog! Positivity really does make all the difference. I think this is why Tony Robbins says everything is 80% psychology 20% action!

Congrats again on the new job! I can't tell you how happy I am for you and how grateful I am for you finding the perfect fit so quickly!!! I am sure it didn't feel that quick to you but in many ways it was. So congrats and enjoy. Looking forward to hearing more about it all as your work life becomes part of your journey here ; )

Hi! Thank you for the thoughtful comments on my blog. I think David is doing okay. Especially for the type of person he is. Usually very shy. But having his closest cousin already there has been super helpful. And yea I hope Cesar changes his mind too. For now I will let him think he has made up his mind about it. I am sure when he has the option open he will take it though. He has wanted to do it since Kindergarten lol!

omgggg your comment about crossfitters was hilarious, I lol'd for sure. When my friend showed up, she IMMEDIATELY started in on it. I was like... please, stop, now.

Overall it just bothers me when people push THEIR fitness stuff on you. I mean - I joined spark so I expect it on here a bit. But in my living room at 10pm? Please. I am tired and in my sweats and I don't care about your box jumps or lifts or whatever. Or on facebook ALL OF THE TIME.

Anyways, thanks for the chuckle. Hope all is well on your side?!
