It goes on and on and on

I live in frosty Minnesota, transplanted from Colorado. I enjoy knitting, and work and teach classes at my LYS. I am happily married to a wonderful man and have 2 great kids. My Christian faith is extremely important to me and we are involved in a great church. I love working out, but I also love to eat!

I have struggled with my weight most of my life. My highest weight was 195. I lost 56 pounds with Weigh Down. Until this summer, I have been able to stay under 165, but ...

I have struggled with my weight most of my life. My highest weight was 195. I lost 56 pounds with Weigh Down. Until this summer, I have been able to stay under 165, but that is still too heavy for me and I'm edging above that now. Nine years ago, I achieved Lifetime with Weight Watchers and made it down to 132. Unfortunately I had a serious diet mentality with that round and was unable to maintain that loss. I am a former fitness instructor who struggled with my weight even during that time. My long term goal is 140.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. Yes, the K-State people were pretty bummed the number one thing didn't last longer, but still...what a great season they are having!

Thanks for commenting on my ongoing Paleo blog. I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds it overwhelming! There are so many twists on it in the name of "ancestral eating". I just don't buy into all of the hoopla. And coconut oil. Don't get me started on that, lol.

It seems we are on similar paths. I have increased my fat intake slightly and cut the grains to minimal while making sure my carbs come from freggies and my post-run oatmeal. I'm going to start reading the Metabolic Effect blog you mentioned. Most of what I have gleaned from all of the Paleo type diets has more to do with managing insulin response. I have lost 5 pounds in the last few months by making those small changes in macronutrients and kicking the wheat to the curb. I still eat oats and brown rice. For the most part I follow the nutrition guidelines from my dietician, except now I make sure I eat the fat servings for the meal and I don't eat the whole wheat bread. Still working on it and will continue to post about what I learn through this experience.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. If you would have seen the man-candy I saw... you would keep going too! It was like a carrot on a stick.

Hi! Thanks for commenting on my blog...it's good to meet a former Kansas girl! I grew up in Nebraska but have lived in Kansas since I got married 24 years ago.

I added you as a friend...hope that's ok. Have a great week!
