Adopting a Healthy Lifestyle

I am originally from California but have been living in Strasbourg France since 1995. The French lifestyle is so much healthier than the American one in general and we eat all sorts of rich foods...but less of them. But, I am not at my optimum weight. I have vowed to stop lying to myself and start seeing myself for who I am completely and fully in all aspects possible: I need to relearn healthy habits and make it a way of life.

My Goals:
Gotta stop lying to myself, pretending I am a healthy person. I want to be like the women in my entourage that I admire so much! I don't want weight to be an issue for me. I want to be totally flexible and comfortable in all my movements. I want to be strong, so strong! I want to be firm, both mentally and physically. These fatty arms and legs are *not* normal and healthy.

My Program:
Track my food so I can see what a real portion size is and have a handle on caloric intake. Run 3 x a week for 60 minutes. Add strength training 3x a week. Move as much as possible. Stand tall. Work on stretching. Do the 100 push up Challenge (to be completed by my 34th birthday in 6 weeks time. Do the splits.

Personal Information:
Coming from the US of A I had a long way to go to find real health. I lost weight here in France due to portion control and all the walking we do here in Europe. I am about 10-20 kg lighter than ever in the US. But, that doesn't mean that I am truley healthy. I've got to get on track and stop being lazy about counting calories...at least until I get used to seeing what a real portion is.

Other Information:
What *sparked* me into action? Well, a recent trip to Tuscany (first time) where we ate buffet breakfasts as if it were our only meal of the day, then pizza and gelato for lunch and I realized that in the evenings I was obsessed about waking up the next day...not to see the amazing architecture and scenery (which is breathtaking) but in order to gorge myself with sweet pastries in the morning. We don't eat many sweets at home but this was ridiculous! I was on a sugar high and realized at the end of that week that I needed to get serious and be honest!
