I am getting there.....wherever I end up!!!

I haven't been on SPARK for quite a while. There have been many changes since the last time I was here. After much soul searching, I decided to have VSG surgery 9 months ago. It has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I needed help because I just couldn't do it on my own.

I haven't been on SPARK for quite a while. There have been many changes since the last time I was here. After much soul searching, I decided to have VSG surgery 9 months ago. It has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I needed help because I just couldn't do it on my own.

I have put up a valiant and courageous fight over the years. I have had some good successes and even greater failures. The failures have far outweighed my successes. No pun intended. I have been overweight , no obese, for most of my life. It is no fun.

I have tried to be brave and do it all on my own. Food addiction is so HARD! Food is everywhere! So easy to get. It tastes so good. It makes you feel good, numbs the pain. Food is acceptable. Everybody eats food.

This addiction ravages your body slowly. High blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, and so on. One can be on meds for years treating these diseases. These are all symptoms of this horrible addiction. The cure is so simple.......Loose weight!

Sounds simple but sooooo not simple. You cant not eat ever again or remove yourself form eating situations. I wish it was that simple.

My coping mechanism is FOOD!!!

Those of you out there know what I am talking about.

I chose surgery as a tool to help me manage my addiction. I am not perfect. I still eat things I am not supposed to. I am not at my goal yet. It has not been easy. Of course I wanted to wake up from surgery and the weight be gone. I have had to work out like a dog to see the scale move. I can only eat a fraction of what I used to eat.

Now I look at food portions so differently. I now can look at someone else's plate and only wish I could eat that amount.

I can say since having Gastric Sleeve Surgery, I can see that I am able to have control. I have lost about 60lbs so far and have about 30lbs to go. I finally don't beat myself up as badly as before.

Still a work in progress!!!!!!!

THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!!!!!!!

Love and Peace to all. Thank you for letting me share my story so far.

Glad you are making changes for the positive. And you're right, it begins with our thoughts, just as you said in your blog! Keep up the good efforts, and you will be satisfied with your results along the "weigh"
