Me...2012...almost back to my highest weight ever. Sigh.

Shelley's Journey

Well...it seems I've been here a million times...starting on this journey.

I know being positive is the right thing to be when facing weight loss goals, but to be honest, that's hard. I'm not negative that I can lose weight, but rather that I can stay with any program.

For me, the struggle will be to rely on God and prayer to keep from spiraling into self-doubt, self-loathing, and defeat.

And I take the first step...yet again...

My Goals:
I remember in high school weighing 128 and thinking I was fat. Geez...to be that weight again. I know it's possible for my 5'5", medium-build frame.

I also would like to one day walk/run in some kind of marathon. I've never done that before and it seems like it would be pretty exhilarating to complete something like that.

My Program:
My father has been working with me via telephone since August 2007 as a personal trainer. It's been great, but I really need more of a daily accountability system so that I am more consistent with my exercise and healthy eating.

Personal Information:
I love working with my hands (knitting, crocheting, jewelry making, drawing, gardening, arts & crafts). I find this keeps me focused on single topics and keeps my hands busy so I don't snack. I can get lost for hours doing things like this. I also love movies and music and writing. I've written short stories and songs.

Other Information:
My dog, Sadie Mae, ROCKS!

Hi...I just read your sparkpage. I can identify with a lot of what you said. I think accountability is important too. You are a beautiful person!

I love the hydrangea picture!

Just a note to cheer you on, today! I was in the exact same situation as you earlier this year... You can do it. We can do it. Be strong, and be brave. :) Cluck, cluck!!

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck

Happy 4th of July! God bless America!
