Finding who I am...

My name is Sheena and I am married and have two beautiful daughters. I have gained 80 lbs since I had my oldest daughter. My family has recently moved to a small community in western Nebraska. I am finding life to be more simple and a lot slower paced than in the city I lived in before. I find it a lot easier to make good healthy decisions, and working out has never been easier. I no longer can make excuses. I am learning everyday how strong I am and how working hard is part of who I am. I ...

It's not just about losing weight, or getting fit. It's about being healthy and grounded and living life like it was meant to be lived.

I am excited for you! You are making positive changes to help you reach your goals. WooHoo!

Great job cleaning out the junk food and making sure you have healthy choices. That is something I do every week. I buy big bags of apples, bananas, salad, tomatoes, low-fat cheese, and skinless chicken breasts at the beginning of each week so I always have a healthy choice to eat.

The gym membership is great! I wish I had one close by to go to. The key to that is to buy yourself a couple inexpensive, comfortable workout outfits and a good pair of shoes and get a routine going. If you schedule a time to go several times a week and stick to it, it will become a habit after a while and you will actually start to miss it if you can't go one day.

Maintain those small goals until they become a natural part of your life! You CAN do this!

Thank you soooo much for reading and commenting on my blog last week. Sorry it took so long for me to respond.

I really appreciate what you said. You are in the right place to get healthy. I love this website. I has saved my life!

Take it one step at a time and one day at a time. Never give up on yourself because the longer you stick with this, the more it becomes a habit and a lifestyle.

I started by tracking my food and moving my body 10 minutes a day and built up from there. Also, you need to practice positive self-talk. It will sink in more as you build up a little confidence in your progress.

Just concentrate on small goals like losing 6 pounds so you will be under 300. That is a good place to start. Then when you reach that goal, concentrate on the next 10 pounds and so on. You will amaze yourself at where you will be in a few months.

Whenever I pick up something to eat I ask myself if it is healthy and will it get me to my goal. If the answer is "no", then I usually put it back and opt for something better.

I was the ultimate couch potato when I started Spark. If I can do this YOU CAN TOO!

Welcome to the Nebraska team, even though it sounds like you may be abandoning us in a couple of years! I'm originally from Colorado and go back there at least once a year, if not more. I still have relatives there and my dad lived there until he passed this past September.

Please let us know if we can be of any help to you! Have a happy New Year!

Debbie
