To Be Or Not To Be ... I choose to be HEALTHY, FIT, and HAPPY!
May 8, 2012 Hi! Thank you for allowing me to become a member of this awesome site! I so believe in the goals that are established here; and I welcome any motivation, and all of you motivators. May 8, 2012 Hi! Thank you for allowing me to become a member of this awesome site! I so believe in the goals that are established here; and I welcome any motivation, and all of you motivators. Since 2000, I have battled an auto-immune disease, Sarcoidosis, suffered 4 strokes, and had a heart attack; but I am happy to say that I am still standing! I am on medical leave from my job, on permanent disability, and my doctors stated that they will never release me to go back to work; however, as long as I am still, mostly, mobile, and can still enjoy my passion, Arts and Crafts, I guess, it isn't too bad. To treat my Sarcoidosis, my doctors had placed me on meds to suppress my auto-immune disease, meds such as prednizone. I gained weight like an inflated balloon! I used to have what some would call a school girl figure, was a very active volunteer, was a Girl Scout Leader, and was very involved in several other activities for young people, as a leader,or sponsor. Once I found out that the meds, they had me on, were steroids, I forced my doctors to find something else, to put me on; and because of my insistence, the steroids, were, finally, replaced. However, most of the weight I have gained, has remained. My doctors stated that my meds are still somewhat the cause. I say that they messed up my fat cells, in my body. Anyway, after sitting around for several years sulking in self pity; I am now determined to try to turn my life around, find happiness with life, again, become fit, and as healthy as I can be; and become the strong woman, again ... the person that I used to be, the woman that my daughters have always admired. They insist that they still believe in me, and say that they still see me as a strong mom(woman); especially, after all the health problems that I have beaten, etc. However, I know that I have become an angry, bitter person, in some ways, and I want to change that. I believe that to start, I need to work on me, starting with my outward appearance! I need to,first, start feeling good about myself, again, my looks, etc. This may sound vain; however, it is not meant to be. I, really, feel bad, and unhappy, with my current appearance; and I am angry about all of my past, and current, health problems. This, of course, is my opinion, of myself. I am always wondering why me? I used to exercise, believed in preventive medical check ups,and practices; and did all the other so-called right things, to prevent ever reaching this point in my life, and it happened, anyway. Anyway, I hope to make a brand new start, make some new acquaintances, possibly, even, bonding, and sharing, and to learn new things; especially, about myself. I am looking forward to some new 'spark,' in my life. Thank you, Spark People! May 16, 2012 I LOVE THIS!!! THIS IS MOTIVATION!!! I BLOGGED THIS, ALSO!!! THANK YOU TO THE AUTHOR OF THIS! June 21, 2012 At my last weigh-in, last Friday; I, finally, lost 5 pounds (a Chihuahua, lol). Ugs, my 'loving' nickname that I call my dog, Nigel (people are always cooing over him on how cute he is; and he, actually, acts like he understands; and be lapping it up, thus why I call him Ugs) gained 3 pounds; haha! I figure that my body, now, has adjusted to any muscle gain, since I started SparkPeople. So, now, I can't wait for tomorrow's weigh-in! I weigh in every Friday (the day I chose as my weigh-in day). My pants are, even, fitting me a little loser, around the waist area! I find myself, constantly, having to pull them up! Love it! Too bad that reaching my goal has to be completed in baby steps; as I do not believe in a drastic weight loss, all at once. I want it to be a natural loss; the same natural way that I gained it, while being on those steroid meds! I still have, yet, to be more consistent in doing my strength exercises, though. I am supposed to be doing them on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays, and haven't been doing them. It's out of laziness; and procrastination. However, everyday, I, religiously, walk, at least, 3,000 steps on my treadmill, inclined at 10" (so like I'm walking up hill, the whole time! I am, really, serious about losing all of this weight; now, that I am, FINALLY, off of those meds (knock on wood)! This is what keeps me motivated, and strong! Before I became ill, with this auto-immune disease; I have NEVER had a weight problem, in my life! I 'WILL' prevail!!! 252

My Goals:
I do not believe in diets; especially, since I see them as yo-yo diets. I believe in exercising, and eating right, as a way of controlling and improving your weight. This is what I hope to achieve with SparkPeople. I want to feel happier with myself, than I am feeling these days; and have felt in a long time. I, also, want to, gradually, reduce the medications, that I am on. I welcome any motivation tips/pushes, and all motivators. I, also, wish for others to achieve, and maintain, their goal, or goals! I will always be cheering you on; in spirit, also! #Thumbs Up!
My Program:
I still plan on acting on all of the tips, and suggestions, that SparkPeople have to offer, on this site. And, I am, also, open to other SparkPeople member's tips; especially, if a member believes that it has helped, or enabled, them. I am, currently, walking 200 steps, at least, on my treadmill, each day. I have cut down on the number of hours that I spend on Sparkpeople; too time consuming. My online craft businesses, and websites, are my babies, and interests, at this time. I do still use the SP Nutrition Tracker; and plan on weighing myself, every once in a while ... and keeping a record of my weight, on SP. I still am unable to do any floor exercises, where I have to lay down on the floor, etc.; due to my strokes, etc., as I am unable to get up, without assistance. However, I do intend to put an 100% effort into achieving, and reaching my other goals!
