I'm a 52 year old nurse living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I've struggled with my weight my entire life, and have been losing the same 5-15 pounds repeatedly, only to gain 7-20 pounds back. When I broke my ankle in 2008, I had terrible difficulty hauling my weight around on crutches, and vowed that I would change. Well, it's taken me some time, but here I am back on Sparkpeople, and back on track, committed to a healthy lifestyle.

Well, it's taken me some time, but here I am back on Sparkpeople, and back on track, committed to a healthy lifestyle.
My goal for this year is to lose just 30 pounds--just a drop in the bucket compared to what I need to lose to be my "desired" weight, but I figure if I can lose 30 pounds and keep it off this year, I will have done more than I have managed for the last several years. You have to start somewhere!

My Goals:
To lose weight (at least 30 pounds)
To become stronger, more flexible and more fit.
To learn to eat to fuel my body, rather than to satisfy my emotions.
By losing weight and becoming more fit, I hope to have more energy for daily life, and be able to do some hiking in the mountains without having too much pain.

My Program:
I am not following a specific "diet", but am focusing on portion control, mindful snacking, and healthy food choices.
I am committing to doing at least 10 minutes of exercise every day, to start. If I get more done, great, but I figure if I can't find time to do 10 minutes of something there is no hope for me at all!

Personal Information:
52 years old
RN by profession
Live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Married with three adult children age 18-21, all living at home.

Thanks for your comments on my blog! I think it may be best for me to go with the 3x a week...because of my fibromyalgia...I think I need that full day of rest in between for my muscles to rest. At least I hope it works out...I have to be really careful to work into things slowly!
It is so good to "see" you back on here...I know you were very busy for awhile. Hope this finds you feeling better from your ER visit. emoticon

Sharon,

Thank you so much for the Spark Goodie flowers! I am trying and moving in the right direction with my plan, I'm happy to say. Sometimes I get a little impatient, but I have to remember that it's not a race, and I didn't put it on overnight.
I hope this finds you with a little "you" time...I know you've been incredibly busy with work and wasn't there a home project going on too???

Have a great week!
Sandy emoticon
