I Want To Be Fit To Be Proud
I lost a lot of weight about 5 years ago. I did it on my own then and learned a lot. I find this structure has helped me better understand what I am doing. My inital goal was 50 more pounds by March 1 of 2013. I reached that goal on Nov 13, 2012. My new goal is 90lbs by March 1, 2013. That is a bit aggressive, but I need a tough goal. I have a wild dream to hit the 100lb goal, but I want to be realistic and let my body tell me if I should lose the extra 10 after I hit 90.

My Goals:
I want to be healthy and active. I know to do that I need to lose weight and work out regularly. I set my initial goal at 225. A 60 pound loss. That is about where I got last time after a 75 pound loss. (Reached on 11/13). What is scary about that is that according to the BMI calculator I will still be at the high end of the overweight category. This time I plan to fight past that and then maintain. My new goal is 195. That would still make me over weight according to the BMI, but I want to see if my body will take more of a loss at that poiint. For the Fall 5% Challenge: Exercise: I will walk each day with my dogs at least 10 minutes. I will do strength training 3-4 times a week. Primarily using Kettlebells. I will also bike 2-3 times a week. I hit the 5% weight loss in 5 weeks and I am going to try to hist 10% before the 8 weeks is up. Diet: I will continue to simply eat healthy and say within the recommended guidelings for
My Program:
I enjoy good food. I have a 22 year old son who lives with who is a young chef. We talk food all of the time. He is working 2 jobs and rarely cooks. I am going to cook healthily and yet make flavorful food that he will enjoy. Extreme programs do not work for me. I cannot give up wheat or carbs. I cannot fast. I am working on a list of low calorie favorites that I can go to easily that we both enjoy. I am working hard on portion control. I want to eat 4 moderate meals a day and drink a lot of water. I am attending 4 kettlebells classes a week. On most days I ride my bike 12 miles round trip for the class. I also referee ice hockey 6-12 times a week. On top of that I walk my dogs daily 20-40 minutes at a fairly fast pace.
Personal Information:
I was born and raised in Kalamazoo Michigan. After graduate school I took my first job in Chicago and moved to the ares in 1979. I have been a systems analyst/developer for my entire career. My two passions are books and ice hockey. I currently do not play, officiate regularly. I am hoping that my conditioning will allow me to return to the ice as a player.
