After 15 years of not being at all active and eating whatever I wanted (especially during my pregnancies), I could see the consequences. I was puffed out just running after the bus, I could barely keep up with my children and my elderly relatives were saying that I finally had put some flesh on my bones (a sure sign I was overweight). But a year ago, as I was approaching my 40th birthday, I decided to change my life around. I lost weight, I started powerwalking and running and then training for a marathon, and I started cooking more nutritious meals for me and my family. I am still not perfect every day, but have come sooo far in one year. Things can only get better still! Bring on 2009!
Basic maintenance mode, i.e. when not training for a half-marathon.
- Running 4 times a week - 1 long run (75-90 mins.), 1 speed session, 1 hills, 1 steady run
- 2 X a week Pilates, strength training and stretching
I love Japan, France and Brazil, travelling and getting to know people all over the world, running, reading, writing, skiing, skating, the sea and the mountains.

Thanks for your comment on my page! Indeed, I did take it easy but not too easy. I ended up running the whole time and felt fine. I don't breathe through my nose when I run anyway so running with a cold wasn't so bad! Ha! I hope your half-marathon training is going well!

Thank you for the nice comment on my blog. I'm sorry you missed your race on 11/22, but this is a perfect example of listening to your body! Woo Hoo for you for being humble and patient!! There will be other races in your future... and I wish you the best of luck on them!

Hey thank you so much!! I hope it goes well. You were definitely right - it's so different outside. I ran my final long training run last night so I'm feeling pretty positive about it. Can't wait for Saturday!

I love your SP Page line (it's one I use often as my mother used to say it too!). Like you, I think that when I hit 40 - life began again! It's a whole new world and I'm so glad to continually meet amazing people like YOU! Thanks for your note on my blog! Off I go to my workout for real now lol...
