December 4, 2010 Update
Another year has passed. It has been a very stressful, difficult year - teenager problems. I know that if I had not been exercising and trying to look after myself it would have been unbearable. I have discovered that the best "pill" for my stress is exercise.

My weight has plateaued for many months, fluctuating up and down by 5 pounds. Today I joined 2010 Winter 5% Challenge and hope this will take me through the Holidays and off to good start for 2011.

Hi, I am 43 years old, married, mother of 1 teenage son. I work in a medical office. I have lost and gained weight most of my life. Four years ago I thought I had changed my lifestyle forever (including running a 10 km and walk/running a 1/2 marathon) and would never gain the weight back, it only took a one week illness to start falling back into my old habits, now two years later I am back at the start again. I am determined to get healthy again and desperately want to prevent diabetes which both my parents were diagnosed with in their 50s, not to mention heart disease which my father suffers from.

Fitness Goals for 2011:
1. Run 5K
2. Run 10K
3. Run 1/2 Marathon in the Fall
4. Participate in beginner duathalon
5. Run/Walk mileage for the year - 1200km
6. Cycle mileage for the year - 2000km
7. Do 2 consecutive pullups

Other Goals for 2011:
1. Get to goal weight by Apr 1, 2011

Goals for 2010:
1. Run 5K Feb 28 - completed
2. Adventure Race - Storm the Trent - May 16 - completed (placed 2nd in female solo 40+)
3. 10K NCM Ottawa May 29 - completed (middle of the pack in 40-44 female)
4. Run 1/2 Marathon in the Fall - not completed due to hip injury
5. Run/Walk mileage for the year - 1000 km - completed and climbing
6. Cycle mileage for the year - 1000 km - completed and climbing
7. Get to goal weight by Dec 31, 2010 - not completed date reset to Apr 1, 2011
8. Do 2 consecutive pullups - not completed
9. Do plank for 2 minutes - completed
10. Do 20 consecutive pushups - completed

I am married to a wonderful, supportive husband. We have a 16 year old son. I also have 2 step daughters and 2 grandsons and a granddaughter due May 6. I live in Canada - 1/2 way between Toronto and Ottawa. I work at a medical clinic.
