I am in my seventh year of living a healthy life style!!
I celebrated my fifth year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2017. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son two years ago to Anorexia Nervosa. I am still in the grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

My favorite quotes...

All you can change is yourself, but sometimes that changes everything! Gary W. Goldstein

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live. - Jim Rohn

What you are doing is not nearly as important as how you feel about what you are doing. - Unknown

There'll be two dates on your tombstone. And all your friends will read 'em. But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em. - Kevin Welch

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney

Accomplishment only takes place when you actively participate with your intentions. Therefore, fully commit to participate in the dreams of your choice and do so against all the risks confronting you. Guru Singh

We are indeed grateful for our wonderful health care here in Canada: there may be waiting for non-urgent matters but always instant care in any emergencies and such compassion and kindliness which can never be paid for . . . don't know how they do it!

Thank you for reading my blog!

We share this garden with 8 other owners, and sadly, it has been neglected. So, I'm in the phase of pulling weeds and removing old branches, but a small area next to the entrance is ready, lawn and tiny shrubs and some flowers.
I got lilies from my mom's garden, and she got them from my grandma's garden : )

My son had tears in his eyes as we danced. I told him I was proud of him and glad that God had let me live long enough to see him and his sister get married (not to each other). I told him he better not cry because I didn't have any tissues.

Neither one of us knew proper hand placement for slow dancing and that was awkward, but it was just one dance and we got through it.

I am soooooo trying to get someone to clean my house. With a torn shoulder I probably won't fix and wonky knees, the bending and scrubbing needed are painful but I do it. I just mentioned to DH that I think it's time to have someone come in once a month for the heavy stuff.
    Thanks for thinking of me.
