PASSIONATELY and PLEASINGLY PUSHING POUNDS off with my PURPLE PASSION team!

As I turn a new decade in my life I celebrate the 60 years that have gone before and all the many gifts with which I have been rewarded in those years, especially my incredible family. My goal now is to become the healthiest grandmother I can be so that I can be around for many many years of my grandchildren's lives. In order to be around for their weddings and to become a great grandma someday I have to treat my body like the temple God meant it to be. So, it's healthier nutrition, and back ...

Judging by your profile picture (full of snow) and the news reports for the midwest area (full of snow) you must be happy to be in Ca basinig in the sunshine. Hope you are enjoying it and doing fun things with the grandkids.

I have 4 children, all married (one is divorced), 15 grandchildren and last fall our first great-grandchild arrived. So we have a quiver full of blessings! They live in MN, IA, IL, and OH. Some we're able to see more often than others. We all get together each summer for a weekend with lots of fun.

sounds like you're enjoying your vacation.

Yes I am addicted to my fitbit but unfortunately I am also addicted to sweets (ice cream in particular) I was gonna say that it is one of the best $100 I ever spent but I didn't even spend it. It was a gift (requested) about 3? years ago. I know the leaders boards have always been there but I think the challenges are somewhat new. At least I have only known about them for the past couple of months. Yes, it also tracks steps for the elliptical, bike, stairs, pretty much everything except for weight lifting because you are for the most part still.

Yes I am in CA. I am in the Los Angeles area. If you are waiting for a plane that means that you are on vacation. How long will you be in Ca? Its ok you can come over and stalk me. We can go workout then come home and eat ice cream.

What are your foods that always seem to get you in trouble? What do you do for exercise?

You live in N. central Ohio - our youngest lives in North Olmsted by Cleveland. It's about an 8 hour drive from where we live in IL. Long way to go see some of the grandchildren! Having an impact on our grandchildren is one of the passions I have. Anything to help prepare the next generation for rough roads ahead. Piano playing has always been a big passion in my life. I love using the gift with which God has blessed me.

I saw pictures of your grandchildren. How many do you have? Do they live close?

Have a great weekend,
~Barb

Yes, I guess we are the original team mates probably before some of the team mates we have now ever knew about Sparkpeople.

I get a lot of my minutes thanks to fitbit. Once you have the device, you set up a page but you dont have to keep updating or make post or anything, Fitbit updates it for you with your stats. The motivation factor comes in because similar to Spark, you can add friends. Once you have friends fitbit makes a chart for you to compare your stats to your that of your friends and you move up and down the leader board.

In the last couple of months they have added challenges. So I can pick 10 of my friends to challenge and fitbit keeps track of the steps and sends us alerts on our cell phone. The challenges are either the work week or the weekend. Right now I am in an all out war. I have had 30k for the last two days but the person above me had 40k steps to tomorrow, some how I have to try and get 50K+ to keep up. Inside the challenge, we talk trash to each other all day long. LOL. Outside of the challenge, you can send private messages to any of your friends at any time.

There have been days that I had scheduled as a rest day or I just didn't feel like working out but I could not let the person below me catch up so, I would go work out.

Huge Sparkpeople community on Fitbit.
