12-21-15 - Will update over the holidays when I have more time. Goal for 2016 - take and make the time for health. I have become a slug. It's so much easier to play games on my cell phone than track my food. :( How lame is that?!!

2012 - Kids are grown and gone, my Daddy died four years ago and I no longer have him to care for. I have been totally lost without him in my life. In February 2011, I got a little dog. People kept telling me that I was so use to caring for someone I needed to get a dog. I got Tenshi at the local rescue shelter. He's manchester terrier/minpin and we have really gotten into walking. Amazing what a motivator he is. We've been doing training classes ever since I got him, I would like for him to be a therapy dog. Of course, I want to lose weight, but more importantly, I want to be fit. I want to be able to walk up a hill and not feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. My knees are really bad and there are days when I can barely walk, but I take Tenshi and hobble along. :) By the way, Tenshi is Japanese for Angel. We got to live in Okinawa for several years and fell in love with the people.

My Mom was overweight, my Daddy was a little bitty guy. He loved being called a "Lean, Mean, Marine". My first marriage was to a very abusive alcoholic. The words that are spoken to you become ingrained and it is so hard to get past them. He use to tell me that if I kept eating I was going to be as big as my mom. He told me I was so fat, no one would touch me with a 10 foot pole. The worst was that "when we go out in public, no one can tell I'm an alcoholic, but it's there for all the world to see what a fat "b...." you are". I weighed 124 pounds. I ran away and joined the Marine Corps. The recruiter told me they weren't allowed to touch you. WOW A nine week vacation!! Pick me! There I met my second husband. We wanted to have children, so I got out of the Corps. I gained weight, never quite lost it all. In fact, I had become what my first husband had predicted, almost as big as my mom. After 12 years we divorced. I never did get down to that Marine Corps weight and fitness level. Living with my dad and raising my girls, food was my best friend. At my highest, I got to 250 pounds. The day I saw that number on the scale, I had my wake up call! I started walking with one of our nursing directors who was retired Navy. Since December 2009, I've lost 70 pounds.

My new coworker, Heather, told me about this site. It is awesome!!!! Thank you, Heather!!! I think the tracking thing will really be a motivator for me. I really like being being able to actually see what I've done for the day, nutrition wise, and think about what I need to do to have a better day tomorrow.

My oldest daughter is getting married May 24, 2013. I want to reach my goal weight by then. Totally doable!

Personal Information:
My name is ReGina. I was born at Camp Lejeune, NC. My mom and dad both were Marines. I graduated from high school at Camp Lejeune. 10 years later, I joined the Marine Corps and was stationed half an hour away at Cherry Point! I made it a long way from home. hee hee I have lived in Asheville, NC for almost 15 years. It's the longest I have ever lived anywhere! Prior to coming here, the longest I had lived in one house was almost five years. :)

Other Information:
My favorite authors are Janet Evanovich and Jude Devereaux. Someone at work, recently introduced me to Lee Childs and the Reacher books. Awesome!! My favorite music is beach music. If you're not from the Carolinas, you probably don't know what that is. I'll introduce you to it! :) I love to sew and make crafts. I haven't sewn in many years. I did craft shows when I lived in Okinawa. I have recently moved and now have a room that can be my craft room. There are so many boxes everywhere that had been in the garage. I may have too much stuff to be able to organize it. Gasp! Any volunteers to help me? :)

Hey ReGina, I should be going to bed but wanted to thank you for the offer to help me out food wise by speaking to someone here at the facility. They think they are beyond attending to one resident's needs. I do the best I can when foods that are the main course , are not to my liking or to my plan to lose. there is a side page from which I can chose, sometimes it is boring as it is necessary to have the same substitute often. But I have managed to lose so whether I like the food or not I am surviving! One has to remember that though the menu may say what is to be served, Their idea of how to prepare it is quite different than the normal procedure. We learn as we go along, and just joke about it!
I had a great day yest. the kids were here for my birthday which is really today, but they could not come on the day, took me out for my favorite food, Mexican and it was so good. Now I must work very hard to get rid of te extra calories. But as I have read many times we are better off to have a day off the strict food intake, so I didn't feel guilty.
They hung a couple of pictures I wanted up, put up a paper towel rack and a light bulb by my toaster oven since it was in a dark corner and I could not read the numbers etc.I got pictures of my great grandson FINALLY and he is so cute. He is going to be the ring bearer at my grandson's wedding in Aug. I hope to have lost enough that others can tell!! Well, love talking with you, and I have forgotten what else you said in your note so will say "good night" Hope you had a good day. Oh, sorry I forgot to tell you that when I took Archie out for his walk I saw some thing on my door. They had hung a banner with Happy Birthday and all the working staff had signed it. I was so surprised. Will roll it up and save it for a time. The workers do not help me as we could not afford that, but we see one anothe in the hallway and elevator.NOW I will quit, sending hugs, Btty
