GOAL!! 19lbs Lighter!

After looking in the mirror and seeing a pregnant belly, I decided that was it. I was done with being chunky. It didn't help that I have high cholesterol and pre-hypertension and am on medication now for both. I need to be healthy not only for myself but for my daughter who is 2.

I've never been overweight til now. I was always skinny and underweight by nature. I was even a healthy weight when I got pregnant in 2006. Between then and now, I've chunked up a bit and have gained a few ...

Between then and now, I've chunked up a bit and have gained a few extra pounds I'm not happy with. Plus I'd like to tone up and get rid of the chunky arms, thighs and the excess belly I've gotten from my pregnancy.

08/10/2009:
weight 127. I found and joined SparkPeople a few weeks after I decided to change my eating habits and get off the couch, and had already lost 4 lbs.

Update 09/03/2009:
weight 123. Pants are fitting a bit looser. I would have to say I'm in an 8/10 rather than full/tight 10. Some of my old size 8 pants are starting to fit better again and some of my old shirts are not quite so tight. That's progress and I'm super excited about it. Only 10lbs to go to reach my goal.

Update 09/21/2009:
I REACHED A GOAL!! I'm down 11 lbs and I'm back at my pre-pregnancy weight of 120 lbs. It feels great to finally reach this goal. Now to keep it going so I can get rid of the flabbies and tone up, and lose the rest of the weight...5-7 more to go!

Update 10/8/2009:
Almost there! Monday was weigh-in and I was at 118.5. Only 3.5 more to go to reach my initial goal. I may change it and try to lose 3-5 more so that I have a cushion. Plus I still have plenty of inches to lose that I know I'll have to work on even after I reach my goal weight.

Update 10/26/2009:
I REACHED MY GOAL WEIGHT!!! I did it. The scale said 115.0 this morning. I can't believe it. But what really got me emotional this morning was taking a good look in the mirror. When I started back in July, my reality was the way I looked in the mirror. Today at goal weight, I looked again. And I cried! My stomach, (what made me cry back then), made me cry again. Why? Because it's smaller! I still have a ways to go to get it to where I'm truly comfortable, but it is smaller and I can see the difference.

New goals:
I still need to lose inches everywhere, so I'm trying to make a better commitment to strength training.
I also signed up for a 5K on Nov 21. So I'm training for that 3 days a week. My ultimate goal is to just keep improving my distance and speed. If I lose a few more lbs in the process, that's an added bonus.

UPDATE 10/29/2009:
I decided to try to shoot for another 3-5 lb loss. Just to give myself a cushion, but I'm in no hurry to get there.

UPDATE 11/09/2009:
I've reached my 2nd goal of 112 lbs! It was easy and I didn't really track my calories. I just used what I've learned and tried to estimate calories and portion sizes. Apparently I done good. :) Cause now I'm at a great BMI for my height and age and I feel good.

Maintenance to commence in full. I think that will be hard. I'm worried I'll just keep losing, since it was so easy to lose those last 3 lbs just by watching what I'm eating and staying on my fitness.

I'm sticking to my running and adding in Pilates 2-3 times a week to strengthen my core, which I hope will help my running and endurance.

NEXT GOAL: 5K on Nov 21.

- eating 1370-1660 calories each day (maintenance range)

- running 3 days a week

- Pilates and ST 2-3 days a week

Personal Information:
I work full-time as a computer programmer and I have a 3 year old daughter who demands a lot of my time and energy.

Other Information:
I love knitting! I've been known to call it my yoga because it relaxes me and calms me.

You and a handful of others are some of my original buddies when I joined SP. you guys will always have a special place in my heart because you guys were there to make me feel welcome.
