Happy, Healthy Me!

I am 59 yrs old, vegetarian not overweight, but getting older and feeling less strong, fit and supple than I used to be. Would like to maintain good health as I get older.

I have recently completed the 100 days by Linda Spangle - it was a brilliant journey and has really made some lasting, positive changes to how I relate to food generally. On Oct 15th I am going to start working through another of her books 'Friends with the Scale' you can read about my progress here ...

I am aiming to be healthy and fit - so looking for a gradual and lasting change of lifestyle that will help me maintain optimum health for the rest of my life!

Having tried a whole load of different health eating strategies and bought more cookery books than I can even remember - I am now embarking on a MAINLY vegan wholefood journey and trying out more raw recipes.

My Goals:
1) to get to and keep my weight under 8 stone 7lbs
2) to get and keep my waist under 29"
3) to maintain a supple and strong body into my later years
To be a slim, strong, fit woman!

My Program:
I am eating mostly vegan, I am limiting wheat and sugar dramatically, I practise portion control. I eat 5-6 times a day. I follow general principles of low-fat, wholefood eating and am mindful of getting protein, especially in my snacks.


I have started doing some weight-lifting with dumbells - just a few at a time so I don't get over-whelmed.

I do some yoga, and enjoy QiGong type workouts. I discovered Taoflow on YouTube (Cain Carroll) which I like a lot.

Starting on 10th October I am intending to swim once a week. I am following a health-building programme from a UK swimming website, it's called Swimfit

Personal Information:
I live by the sea in the South West of the UK. I work full-time as a support worker with adults with learning disabilities. I am a Nichiren Buddhist which involves me in lots of activities.

Thank you very much for my spark goodie and good wishes. I am not managing to stick to writing up in my purple book. Though plan to spend some time later. I am still very motivated and even with my social events this week I am still on track with my eating plan.
