In November, I spent the month on the theme of money - and the habit of keeping in my purse! It was very successful - I improved my delayed gratification muscles significantly!

For December I am going on a gentle journey of discovery around my own town. Checking out the shops, cafes and galleries that I never usually go into. Who knows what I might discover!

I'm in the FORCE cornerstone of Spark Guy's Small Goals Commitment Challenge. "Share you energy; get more in return." This is about motivation, community, friendship, encouragement - being a positive role model. Here's the link to Spark Guy's overview: www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_

I am 63 yrs old, 5'3" tall and weigh around 8 stone 1lbs - so I'm in the 'healthy' range. My issue is less being fat, and more about my relationship with food.

I am learning to manage my behaviour around food with the NoS diet which is working well for me. Three 'proper meals' a day - no snacks, sweets or seconds on weekdays - with some freedom at the weekends and on special days like birthdays. Good old-fashioned regular eating pattern! My behaviour around food is being modified very happily with this system. So glad I found it. Check out the NoS team page if you're curious!

I want to be fit, supple, happy, healthy, full of energy!

I'm keen to be lean!

I've also noticed that a lot of my status updates are about the weather - very British!

".. every pound of weight loss results in five pounds of stress taken off your knees, seven pounds off your ankles, and a whopping ten pounds off your spinal discs!" it's worth the effort!

My Goals:
These are my physical goals: I want to have achieved the following:-

1) to get my weight down to 109lbs by the end of 2018. I have a personal firewall of 115lbs

2) to keep my waist under 29"

3) to maintain a supple and strong body into my later years

4)To be a slim, strong, fit woman!

November 2017: 8 stone 1lbs (113lbs) BMI 20.2 (normal range) WHR 0.80 (low risk - pear shape)

My Program:
I am currently following a daily strength-training programme on the darebee website which is working well for me - I track this on the darebee website.

For the behavioural/emotional reasons for eating: Linda Spangle's 100 Days of Weight Loss programme

NoS diet - No snacks, sweets or seconds except on days that begin with S.

I am practising making one of my three daily meals a lower-carb one: for me this means leaving out bread, pastry, pasta, potato, rice.

I am aiming to remain on a very low sugar diet - using alternatives to fructose and sweeteners. II am currently using Sweet Freedom (fruit syrup) and coconut sugar. I also have a small bottle of maple syrup. I already use unsweetened applesauce in baking, and know how to use date puree or bananas for sweetness.

Personal Information:
I live by the sea in the South West of the UK. I work full-time to provide services for adults with learning disabilities. I am a Nichiren Buddhist.

thanks for thinking of me- I took a break from knitting the sleeve of this sweater to post my walk notes today- a knitter- in response to your comment on my page (lol). I wish I was done with this sweater- because I'm longing to get back to the blanket I'm half done with... I even have a fresh skein on yarn for it.... just waiting for me. This particular sweater is on it's third or fourth do over, honestly I'm just pushing through and if it still doesn't fit I'm giving it to charity for somebody smaller than me.

Yeah, I’m lucky I don’t have the office temptations anymore. And I’m doing as well as can be. Yes he’s still here. He keeps coming up with more excuses not to move, still no job yet.

    Hi Gill,

Thanks for the invitation! I found your Four Cornerstones blog, and I must say you have a wonderful, supportive, compassionate friend there. Gill, I felt funny, like an eavesdropper! I hesitated to post, but felt the "lurking" to be dishonest at the same time. Are you sure I should be there?

I couldn't help noticing that Teresa (OKBACK2MEAGAIN) has posted a team invitation on your page. Teresa is a wonderful woman. I'm on her other team, the BLC team Scarlet Dragons. I've been on this team with her since September of 2016 over a year and I can vouch for Teresa's kindness and compassionate leadership! If you are inclined to join a team, hers will be good bets. I know you may not have 5% to lose right now, so close to goal, but if you ever want to be a Dragon, just for the camaraderie and fitness challenges, please let me know! These are lovely people, we are about much more than losing pounds (although we do that, too) and we do have fun! Many of us are in mid-life and/or face health challenges, and only some of us are burning through the pounds. We also have some members who are close to goal and are maintaining at this point, so no worries about the designation "BLC." There is no drill sergeant yelling abuse, no pressure, and no toxic fixation on appearance. We eat well, exercise and support each other as we transform our lives in our individual ways. Maribeth (Aura) is a long-standing Dragon Lady, too.

Gill, thanks. Let me know what you think about the Four Cornerstones. If you would like a third person on board, and it would not rock the boat, I really like what I read there. It seems like a comfortable spot to share the journey!
