Last month I focused on what makes me happy. One of the things that are important for happiness are to CONNECT with others. This month I'm going to make a positive effort to connect with friends and family.

I am 61 yrs old, 5'3" tall and weigh around 8 stone 7lbs - so I'm in the 'healthy' range. My issue is less being fat, and more about my relationship with food.

I am learning to manage my behaviour around food with the NoS diet which is working well for me. Three 'proper meals' a day - no snacks, sweets or seconds on weekdays - with some freedom at the weekends and on special days like birthdays. Good old-fashioned regular eating pattern! My behaviour around food is being modified very happily with this system. So glad I found it. Check out the NoS team page if you're curious!

I want to be fit, supple, happy, healthy, full of energy!

I'm keen to be lean!

I've also noticed that a lot of my status updates are about the weather - very British!

".. every pound of weight loss results in five pounds of stress taken off your knees, seven pounds off your ankles, and a whopping ten pounds off your spinal discs!" it's worth the effort!

And, an odd thing you might think, I've set my ticker to show how long until I retire. I was expecting to retire at 60 yrs old, but the rules changed and now I have to work until I'm 66. I am tired of working and looking forward to retiring! Having it on a ticker shows me exactly how many days - and inspires me to take on challenges and projects along the way.

'Boredom' is usually just avoiding something I don't want to do... Oh my gosh, I had never thought of it that way, but that is kind of painfully true!!! I'm going to tuck that one in my back pocket and pull it out next time I think I'm "bored."

I have never been a DIYer before, either...at least definitely NOT for home repair! We're slowly figuring it out with a whole lot of help from the internet. I recommend it, though. I feel quite accomplished when I get the steps done, plus I'm saving money!

I counted up the recipes in the new Jamie Oliver book, this probably isn't exact and I didn't include the "get ahead" recipes for curry pastes and veggie sauce.

    47 vegetarian
51 not with 6 of those instantly adaptable to veggie (more with a bit more effort)

(seriously, one is a mini pizza with a roll of ham around salad on the side *laughs* sure we can handle not rolling rocket in ham)

So I am seriously impressed with this book. Right now I have the vegetables for the Gurkha curry marinading in the fridge for later. it's interesting, you roast all the veg in spiced yogurt first, then add tomatoes and chickpeas. Should be good.

And air shows? urgh, my in laws live near Southport, which has a HUGE airshow, we forgot it was on and a 1h 15 min drive there ended up taking over 3 hours, round the back and beyond, with everybody else in traffic jams on roads normally populated by only the odd tractor!

    have a restful day. emoticon

Had a look and found (no idea about that shared favourites page!) the neck exercises. Just done them and while no impact on the headache, my neck and shoulders are a lot looser... I need to notice when I'm hunching in response to stress and pain and relax!

    thank you. emoticon
