On my weigh to fitness and health!
Dec. 30, 2010--Still workin' on this journey. Losing weight is NOT an easy task when you travel and live in hotels/restaurants so much, but I am determined to get to my goals by my birthday this year (Aug. 20). I have begun tracking my food and exercise again, and really being more determined to do what it takes... May, 2010--It is half way thru 2010 and I hadn't updated my sparkpage! I'm still struggling with my weight, but mostly bouncing up and down within about 5 lbs, so that is much better than continuing to go up! Still on the road (or should I say, In the sky...LOL, and living out of hotels and restaurants, but I'm still plodding along. NEVER GIVE UP! LETS SHINE IN 2009 SO WE CAN BE LOOKIN' FINE! Feb. '09--We are now in London and heading to Boulder, CO next month and my weight is STILL up! I hate being so close to where I started--seeing my tummy look PG again and ring and clothes getting tight. But i refuse to give up--I've been down this road before, so I know my way back--just have to be a Nike ad and "Just Do It!" Jan. '09--My weight has jumped up since traveling and I'm on my weigh to bringing it back down. We started traveling again this month--currently in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This time we brought our scale with us although it weighs higher than the one at home, but it SHOULD help keep us focused. Jan. also means a new BLC season--GO BLC! 11/04--The year is winding down and today is election day--Go vote! We are now in Madrid, Spain, so we are going to miss out on the election--wasn't smart enough to ask for an absentee ballot. My weight is not making any progress--actually up a few and not sure about where I will be able to weigh in since no gym here.... 10/17/08--I'm in Horsham England this month and I will be in Madrid, Spain in November. I'm enjoying the great gym at this hotel and a session with a personal trainer Whew!) Also, I'm enjoying the Aquafit classes twice a week...part of the perks for being guests of this hotel--Woo Hoo! 09/06/08-Now, I'm in Paris for 4 weeks with my hubby! All this French food and still trying to lose weight--Yikes! But all the walking all over this spectacular city--hopefully that will keep the weight loss going... NEW INTRO 12/01/2007: I wanted to update my page but didn't want to delete my initial intro to show some of my progress. So here it goes-- My high weight was about 200 lbs (I didn't weigh very often, because I didn't want to know how bad it was) and I was wearing size 18W. I am a type II diabetic and my A1c got up to 12 because I wasn't taking my medication regularly and I routinely ate too much and the wrong foods. I also didn't do ANY exercise. After being told that my A1c was 12, I started trying to remember my meds better and I started walking around my neighborhood, but the walking only lasted for a couple weeks. I also tried to eat better (some of the time), and I dropped my A1c down to 8.7. In the spring of '07 we planned a Hawaiian cruise for Aug. '07 for our anniversary . We decided we needed to lose some weight, so we wouldn't look like two beached whales and we began walking again. By the time we left for our cruise, I was down about 8 lbs and dh was down about 15 lbs. I was really surprised what a huge difference that the walking made! During previous attempts to lose weight, we didn't do much of anything in the way of exercise and we didn't lose weight by only changing our eating habits. We tried to be fairly good while we were gone (2 weeks in Hawaii) and only gained 3 or 4 lbs. whuile we were gone. After we returned, my daughter told me about SP and I joined about a week after our cruise. Since joining SP I also joined The Biggest Loser Challenge #1 and have increased my walking to about 3 miles daily, and began tracking my food and exercise. I am now wearing size 13/14 jeans andwill try to get a new pic of me in my new jeans to add to my page sometime this weekend. I have now lost about 13 more pounds (total of 21 lbs. so far) and my doctor has taken me off 2 of the 3 of my diabetes medication. She also said she would look at the possibility of decreasing it further, (and also maybe BP and cholesterol meds) at my next check-up the end of Jan. My A1c is now 5.7 which is considered a controlled diabetic. Note: Above 10 is considered 'very uncontrolled diabetic'. SP is partially resposible for turning me from a seriously out of control diabetic, obese female, that NEVER exercised, into a overweight female on her way to becoming a fit female who is now a team leader on a weight loss site! ORIGINAL INTRO 9/12/2007 BACK FROM HAWAII I am trying to stabilize my blood sugars and become healthier by trying to eat more healthy and walking about 2 miles a day. With a husband, five grown children, four grandchildren, and a part-time job, I stay very busy, especially since three of the four grandchildren are currently living with us and their parents while our son-in-law goes to culinary school...so much for an empty-nest. We just returned from a wonderful two week vacation to Hawaii, which included a 1 week cruise and our first time to snorkel. Now we are anxious to return for more snorkeling.

My Goals:
Get into the 150's by May, so I will look good for my husband's 40th HS Reunion (sometime this summer). Bring my fitness back to where it was, when I was losing before--minimum of 5 miles p. day! Getting healthy enough to be able to reduce and eventually discontinue my meds.
My Program:
We are trying to watch our diets, cut back on the carbs and get more excercise so we will be more fit and healthy. We usually split plates when eating at restaurants (most of the time, since we travel so much for DH's job). We need to make our exercise a bigger priority!
Personal Information:
I am a female, in my mid 50's, on medication for High Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, & Type II Diabetes. I live in Woodburn, Oregon and work PT in retail.
Other Information:
I love traveling (especially cruising) and watching Biggest Loser, Amazing Race, Survivor, American Idol, TLC, & HGTV. Ask me about my 'Treasure Hunters' big win.
