My 2013 Mantra: "Say 'No' to fleeting pleasure; say 'YES' to lasting joy."

My goal for 2013 is to continue to make progress on my goals. My goals encompass more than weight loss but that is a significant part of what I am trying to achieve. My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to be happy and healthy in all arenas of my life. Many people in my family have struggled with their weight and I hope to break free of the cycle and blaze my own trail. As of April 2013, I have lost 60 pounds!

My Program:
Dancing 4 days a week.
Strength Training 2 days a week.
Walking 2 to 4 miles a day.
I try to eat REAL FOOD, not merely food like substances.
I drink my water and try to get appropriate sleep.
I also actively seek to manage and reduce my stress through prayer, exercise and relaxation.

Personal Information:
I love all things artsy, from paintings to films to music. I graduated from law school in May of 2011. I love to swim, dance and walk by the beach. I love California and all of our wonderful beaches, forests, wines and cheeses. :)

I've had the same results - being secretive about my diet almost always ends up with my giving up! I mean, if you have no one holding you accountable, it's easy to give up - no strings (at least, that's how I would see it!)

I met up with my health coach through my dentist; to lose weight and get rid of sleep apnea, the dentist recommended the Take Shape for Life program (that's with those meal replacements). As part of the program, you get a health coach assigned to you. She has been really great - she checks in, makes sure I am doing OK, gives recipe tips for my sweet tooth (a big thing for me!), and always gives encouragement.

If you get a chance, watch Hungry for Change, and Food Matters. They really helped open my eyes to the possibility that we've been lied to about what is healthy and what isn't. Then check out Whole9life.com they also have a FaceBook community (although I haven't visited) I can tell I'm losing inches off my belly, but I refuse to check to see how many until day 30.
