I enjoy sweet potato pie filling (I can do without the crust. It's the sweet that I like.), and I don't deny myself from having it. I'm choosing to make it one of my starches or one of my veggies for one of the meals on the day I eat it.

The fact is that it doesn't matter what you eat as long as you balance it out with other stuff. There's absolutely no reason to feel guilty or self-loathing just because you chose to eat what you wanted to eat. If a healthy weight is your goal, you just need to make sure the unhealthy foods don't dominate your eating plan.

I like sweets so I keep raisins, Skinny Cow ice cream, Nilla Wafers, Yoplait Light yogurt, and sweet potato pie in my house. I know I don't have to eat the whole pie. I know I don't have to eat the whole bag of Nilla Wafers. I'm learning to savor the flavor and enjoy it when I eat it. I CAN eat an entire small box of raisins. I CAN eat the entire ice cream truffle or ice cream sandwich. I CAN eat the whole 6 oz. of yogurt.

I've learned to satisfy my sweet tooth in other ways too. If you sit down and plan out what you're going to eat, and then follow your plan, you'll feel like you're on top of the world -- especially as you see the clothes get bigger and your energy level increasing!!!

Exercise just 10 minutes a day. Drink plenty of water. Eat lots of veggies. If you do all these things, you can eat that other thing and feel okay about it.

Feel good about you! That's the real key.

I've been waiting to find the time to thank you for your comment on my blog last month, Precious, and what better day to do so than on this wonderful day of giving thanks for all we've been given. I am glad that you enjoyed the tips and I hope they are of benefit to you in your journey, especially to help you plan your meals. That's one of the tips I recommend the most!

Congratulations on your weight loss! Keep fighting for your healthy successes and have a happy Thanksgiving! emoticon

Saw you huddle comment that you need support. Have you mapped out a plan? Do you keep a food journal? Do you keep an emotional journal? These and other things have kept me on track. Also, I have affirmations ALL over my home to remind me that I'm so worth this new healthy lifestyle. I take one day at a time BUT I try to plan for most of my days.

Keep me posted on how things are going with you.

    Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Dropping by from the BBQ huddle to lend support.
I find setting goals gives me focus and helps me say no to temptations because I am saying YES to ME!
Try something new, even something you never imagined you'd do. I just did my first half marathon, and I'll be doing an 8K Thanksgiving morning, then a 5K Reindeer Romp in 2 weeks.
I started out walking, and feel so much better!
Most of all, remember you are worth it! emoticon

Thanks you for your words of encouragement. I was here before (manage to lose 70 pounds), but I lost focus and gained 30 pounds back. However, I have learned from my mistakes and am pressing on toward the future!
