Re the crutch vs cane issue - I tore out my knee and was in a brace for several months, surgery in the middle of that. I had to walk across gravel to reach my classroom. On a slight hill. So for a while I used both crutches, then one crutch, then one crutch only for going up and down the gravel.

Point of the story - do what works for you. Maybe use the cane until you feel tired, then switch to the crutch. Or alternate days, as you said. Or use whatever seems appropriate for the situation, length of time, and conditions of where you'll be walking.

You know all of that, of course. Just adding my experience in a similar long recover and my yes, go with what works for you.

Thanks for the bloglove - and the vote of confidence. Most of the time I'm pretty confident too but ... oh those scary nights when I wake up sure I've done something dreadfully wrong.

Hope you're healing swiftly - it sounds like you are but ... healing is soooo tedious. Ha! we can get through this tedious time together!

    Hugs to you.

I hope your hip is starting to heal and you're able to do a little more?

I went to grad school in Seattle, and my college roomies from ages ago have been here ever since. So Seattle is sort of a second home.

And yes, I remember several dates where we just took the night ferry to Bainbridge Island, or Bremerton. (With kissing on the deck between star gazing, LOL! Very romantic!)

Oh goodness, I am SO SORRY to hear you broke your hip. I trust your 'good shape' and 140 day streak will put you in good stead with the surgery though, as well as the recovery. What a whopping interruption though. You take care and it will be my/our turn to deliver all the bedside manner we can.
