A healthier me ...
The fall of 2008 my weight used to be in the low 150's ... I was wearing size small tops ... I wore a comfortable size 4 skirt. I was healthy, fit, and toning up week by week. The number on the scale was slowly creeping downward, but I also loved myself just the way I was. I was doing great, but, of course, I always wanted a lower number. The turning point, oddly, came when I ordered my wedding dress, 7 months before the wedding. It was such a relief to get that done that I ...
It was such a relief to get that done that I slowly slipped back into my unhealthy habits and the pounds, of course, came back. "You have time to lose the weight" was my biggest pitfall. With only 10 weeks until the wedding (and a lot of weight to lose) I started running, and though I loved it, it was too much too fast and I quickly found myself with an Achilles injury ... that I didn't get checked out for FOUR months (after the wedding and honeymoon). I wasn't about to walk down the aisle in a cast! (I was a disappointing 166 lbs the morning of the wedding). It's hard to exercise when the pain was nearly constant. And then the doc said "no activity" to let the injury heal and the pounds packed on. Around that time I also got a job where I had to get up at 4am, with a 40 minute commute to start at 6am. So when I got off of work at 2pm, I was beat and often turned to candy for an afternoon boost. No exercise + bad eating = weight gain. And that went on for a solid 6 months. You can only imagine how much weight that equated to. A LOT! So here I am. Five years later and I peaked at a whopping 236 pounds. My husband and I tried to conceive our first child. Then we found out we're BOTH infertile. So I took medication and my husband took vitamins, but I was still unable to get pregnant. We've had 3 years of fertility testing and treatments, including 3 rounds of IVF. We are still trying to grow our family. I am on this journey to a healthier lifestyle. ... a healthier me.
