I am going to lose 50 pounds by Easter 09.

My wake up call was when I took a power walk earlier in the week and thought I was going to have a heart attack. It scared me into finally deciding to do something about these extra pounds (plus I cannot afford another wardrobe ;-)).

I went home this year and took a family picture with my mom and siblings and realized something - we are all pillows (some say apple shaped). We are a thick group of people.

My goal is to be the skinner one (not skinny) in the picture. My other goal is to get heart healthy. Next year when I go on that power walk, I will do it with ease. An finally, I plan to see my great-great grand children.

I have hung an outfit on my closet door and when I fit that outfit, I will have reached my goal. This is not unrealistic because it is an outfit I wore just 5 years ago. Then once I fit that outfit, I plan to try it one at least 2 times a year to make sure I am staying on track (maintaining).

Once you're up and running, keep going. Once you've worked to establish some momentum, make the most of it.
Don't stop when you've done just enough. With a little extra effort, you can achieve so much more.

You've spent a lot of time and effort getting to where you are. If you stop now you'll have to put even more effort into getting started again.

Keep going until you've far surpassed what you expected to do. Surprise and delight yourself with how much more you can get accomplished.

When you've already done what's good enough, that puts you in a great position. It's more effective to reach higher when you're already moving higher.

Momentum is an unstoppable force. Once you've got it, keep using it, and keep going until you're amazed at what you've done.

Thanks for your comment on my blog.

As long as I'm here, I read your page. Your try on the dress twice a year idea sounds pretty good. It might be better for me to shoot for 4 times a year, just to be on the safe side.

Good luck on your plan to get skinniER than the rest of the family.
And I REALLY hope that you have no more scares during your power walk. Go get 'em.

Thanks for the positive thoughts on my blog... you are right... I should be crying over missing out on the cupcakes....although, I didn't even stay long enough to find out what kind they were (and I didn't even ask the kids!)
