2010 - What's next...

Hi I'm Sonja. I am originally from Oklahoma, but now I live way up here in Northern Michigan. I am loving it here! I have never spent so much time outdoors. That is really making it a lot easier to get out and exercise. I have even grown to like winter sports of all things. I am a theatre person, mom, wife, student... so many hats.

That is really making it a lot easier to get out and exercise. I have even grown to like winter sports of all things. I am a theatre person, mom, wife, student... so many hats.
I have been working on weight loss for a couple of years now. It has been slow work, but well worth it. When my son was two (now five) I realized that "baby weight" was no longer a valid excuse for being 50lbs over weight. So I set to work. I have lost a total of 41 lbs to date.
Sparkpeople has been a great resource for me. I am now happy to say that my goal weight is within sight! Yea! I am now working on finding new goals to challenge myself. I am finding that I have an inner desire to be athletic, not just thin, something I have never been and never even dreamed of being.

Others have said it too but it really rings true...Stop exercising and start training

Nutrition wise I am staying within my Sparkpeople calorie range, getting 8 glasses of water a day, and trying to get in more veg.

Sonja...thanks for the well wishes with my epidemic appliance issues! Ha... We will be using that 60 year old Nesco to get by this week! Unbelievable. They don't make things like they did 60 years ago...that's for sure! Well, sounds like your parents have a brand new kitchen! Thanks for sharing their story.

Best wishes on your race tomorrow. I started out with a 10k myself, and have still never run the 5k race distance (two half marathons and two 10k's later). Have fun, and go hard!
