I run...a lot :-)

My name is Sandy and this is me getting healthy and finally losing this extra weight. Before the birth of my son, I had NO problems maintaining a healthy weight. I was thin and if I felt like I needed to drop a few pounds, I just stopped eating junk food, as well as breakfast and lunch. So I was at a healthy weight, but I wasn't healthy.

Then I got pregnant. And I put on something like 60 pounds. And I found out that losing 60 pounds is TOUGH! It's been a hard road but I also ...

It's been a hard road but I also found out that IT IS POSSIBLE!

I've done a lot of thinking throughout this journey. I thought about why I joined SparkPeople. I thought about why I wanted to lose weight. In the beginning, it was to lose weight, fit into my clothes and not feel like crying when I looked in a mirror. My motivations shifted as the months went along. Suddenly I wanted not only to lose weight but to be healthier, and to raise healthy children. I want to be healthy and happy and I want my son to see that in me. I want to not only be able to motivate myself, but also others. I want to get back to a place in my life where I can go outside, start running "just because" and keep running until I want to stop, not have to stop. I want to have more children and be healthy enough to have no complications. And VERY long term, I want to grow old and be healthy.

It is definitely a lifestyle change for me...and I really don't think I'll ever go back to the old lifestyle. This one is proving to be not only rewarding but also FUN!

Just read your story about losing the baby weight. I am so impressed and wished that I could find your motivation. I, too, gained in 2008 and have been trying to lose the baby weight. I at a real high for weight right now but can't seem to pull it altogether to lose the weight again.

Your story makes me helpful. I need to quit making excuses and just do it!

Loved reading your birth story! Brought tears to my eyes. I feel that the experience of birth when the woman/baby/body are in control creates a massive sense of self esteem and gratitude. Hard hard work yet rewarding beyond measure!

I hope that you are finding time for yourself with two kids now. I found it so hard going from one to two. But your age gap might be more forgiving! Anyway run strong!

Things are crazy here too!! Moses will be a month old on the 7th, still trying to get use to the sleepless nights... haha finally started losing some of the almost 60 pounds I gained.. haha I have been trying to drink more water and not eat so late. It will be a long journey but I am more determined than ever, especially knowing this is our last baby and I can finally focus on me!! How have you been???
