Loving life and living healthy!
Time for an update. I have been in Sparksville since January 5, 2011, and decided it is time to freshen up my page--something bright and summery! My new NordicTrack treadmill arrived on May 7, and I love it! I had debated whether to get a bike or a treadmill, and the treadmill has by far been the better choice. No problem about the weather or the time of day--the treadmill is always ready to go! I also like the incline feature, so I can walk up and down "hills." I always have ...
Time for an update. I have been in Sparksville since January 5, 2011, and decided it is time to freshen up my page--something bright and summery! My new NordicTrack treadmill arrived on May 7, and I love it! I had debated whether to get a bike or a treadmill, and the treadmill has by far been the better choice. No problem about the weather or the time of day--the treadmill is always ready to go! I also like the incline feature, so I can walk up and down "hills." I always have great books on the iPod, so walking is a pleasure. So far, I have been doing 3 miles a day, and burning about 500 calories per day. This gives me cardio and lower body strengthing. I will have to add something for upper body strength--probably an elastic band routine. I am also ready to up the mileage: now I will start doing 1.33 mile sessions three times per day, thus I will be walking 4 miles per day. My goal is to work up to 5 miles per day. My treadmill looks out over my yard. Everything is blooming and it is so beautiful! Lots of fruit trees, flowers, bird baths and bird feeders. There are so many birds in the yard! It is really like living in the middle of a sanctuary. I am also enjoying summer fruits and vegetables. There is a fresh market near me: summer squash, zuchinni, green beans, eggplant, tomatoes, mangoes, watermelon, cantalope; not to mention gorging on the ripe mulberries on my mulberry trees. Soon the plums and figs will be ripe! So wonderful to stand out in the yard and graze on fresh fruit! Except for several days of entirely forgiveable binging, I am keeping to my calorie range, and recording everything that goes into my mouth. Except for those rare exceptions when I need a treat, I stick to my very healthy, very delicious vegan eating. Life is so good! The weather is beautiful, and eveything in thriving, including me! I feel so fortunate. I have everything I want and need, life is so gosh-awful beautiful every single day! How can anyone be so lucky?

My Program:
Walk 4 miles a day on the treadmill. Track everything I eat or drink using the Nutrition tracker. Stay within my recommended calorie range. allowing for an occasional day off the scale, to enjoy treats, such as dark chocolate and white wine, Drink 64 oz. water per day. ENJOY LIFE!
Personal Information:
I am 64 years old--and loving it! I have two dogs that I adore. They are spoiled rotten! I love books, I have a huge collection of audiobooks, mostly fantasy fiction, and have a book on the iPod at all times. Love listening to a good book while treadmilling.
Other Information:
I live in sunny Florida, and am so grateful for the fabulous weather here! I have a very large yard (approx. 1 acre), and it is filled to brimming with flowering bushes and fruit trees. It is like a sanctuary; my private garden of Eden. I love hot tea, and experience many private moments of joy every day. Life is so wonderful!
