Hi! My name is Jen and I have finally decided to abandon "dieting" and make changes in my lifestyle that will allow for a healthier, happier version of myself to emerge.

I had registered on SparkPeople in early 2013, but quickly gave up due to lack of commitment and an overall lack of exploration of all the wonderful features available at SP. To be honest, I am more than a little uneasy with "putting myself out there" in blogs and status updates. Not being comfortable with social media as a whole, it will take some time to adjust. But after poking around at random SparkPages of users in my own age group, I started to see the challenges that I have are similar to so many. It is really nice to know you are not alone. Everyone appears to be caring and supportive in their comments and it creates a community I have never seen online. Couple that with the way that SparkPeople was formed and the care they take to improve their site to meet the needs of the community... I couldn't help but jump in :)

So now armed with my new Spark, Treadmill, Swiss Ball and Foam Roller, I am determined to develop a routine that I can live with! Starting small, I plan to keep track of my thoughts about each day in the Exercise Notes portion of the Fitness Tracker. I hope to one day work up to posting blog entries and status updates. As they say... baby steps!
