March 12th 2012: The day I started my journey. 101 kg and 38% body fat




July 5th 2012: 3/4 of the way to my goal! Here I am at 84 kg and 32% body fat




Sept. 3rd 2012: Have reached my goals!! Now 77.3 kg, with 28.5% body fat and a BMI of 24.8. YAY!!

Last March, I set a goal: to lose 20 kg by Oct 1st. I have been consistent: using the amazing Curves Smart technology (a little data file which functions like a personal trainer) plus following Curves Complete: I decided to do 2 rounds of this program, back to back.

Yesterday, I finished my 24 weeks on Curves Complete, and I achieved all of the goals I set: aimed to lose 20 kg, lost 21.4; aimed to have a body fat % of 30% and am now at 28.5%; aimed to have a BMI of 25, and achieved 24.8.

During these past 24 weeks, Iíve treated myself sensibly: eating out at least once a week (making healthy choices), and having the occasional, very small sweet indulgence (e.g. a scoop of 99% fat free gelati, or a small hot chocolate made with skim milk). This helped me to not feel ĎdeprivedíÖ which has been very good. I also drink LOTS of water: I always have a bottle of water with me, around the clock.

Where to from here? I am now in the maintenance phase (Phase 3) of Curves CompleteÖ YES! A diet with an exit strategy!! And Iíll keep on going to Curves at least 3 times a week (but aiming for 4 times), and still take a long walk every day. And Iíve set a new goal, but itís not a number on the scale nor a number on the clothing racks in shops. My new goal is to simply get a little trimmer and fitter so as to look great in a bikini by 1st Dec!!

Last summer, I was embarrassed to go to a beach or swimming pool. If someone had told me that Iíd be sporting a bikini this summer, I would have thought they were MAD! But I will!!

My Program:
I follow the Curves Complete program of diet + exercise + motivation. I eat sensibly and go to the gym 4 times a week. I use the Curves Smart motivator at each workout. I walk every day with a pedometer, and each week the number of steps I must do increases. I am also an avid reader of Sparkpeople emails, and enjoy your recipes. I also appreciate the wisdom of Jon Gabriel
