I live in the western suburbs of Chicago with my husband. I telecommute for a medical software company and travel frequently for work. I have 2 step-daughters in college - close to finishing in the next year or so. I want to get to a healthy weight and stay there this time! I also want to get in shape so I can stay physically fit. My husband and I like to travel and I want to make sure we can enjoy this for years to come.

60 lbs down - 10 or 15 to go - ...

Started Half Marathon training 7/14 - Half Marathon training 11/9/14

Update: March 26, 2014:
50 lbs down - 25 to go! 2/3s of they way there. Again, I may adjust my goal, but that is where I am heading.

Diet: low carb using The Metabolism Miracle - finishing up Phase 1 the first week of April
Exercise: Cardio and Strength training - Elliptical and Running - signed up for several 5ks, a 10k, Quarter Marathon and Half Marathon in the Fall. Goal of Strength training 3 times a week. Working on upper body strength, core strength and balance.

Update January 15, 2014:
45 lbs down - 30 lbs left to go, but I may end up adjusting my goal when I get closer. Signed up for some 5ks and a quarter marathon so far, but I have a goal of a half marathon this year. I also started strength training this year to increase my muscle mass and strengthen my core.

Update September 24, 2013:
I am at my halfway point - 35 lbs down and 35 to go! In the beginning, I had hoped for 2 lbs a week, but quickly realized it was going to be 1 lb week, sometimes more, sometimes less. But slow and steady is working for me. This is not a diet as almost everyone on SP says, it is a lifestyle change. My blood pressure is coming down, my resting heart rate is down, my knees feel better! So on to the next 35!

I am a Tiger Monarch, doing my first 5% challenge, looking forward to tomorrow's start.
I see you are a runner, me too, I run 3x a week.
An interesting point in common, my son is in healthcare IT and he is attending a conference in Chicago this week. He also works from home except when he gets sent to work on team projects or goes to conferences.
He is living in Seattle now, we are Canadian, he graduated in April 2014 and his first job is with an American company.
