I'm 51 yrs old and have been a member here for a while but got away from my trying to be healthy and left. I have returned because I need help getting back to healthy eating and exercise. My Dr has informed me of concerns about my health and told me I need to start eating low carb low fat. I need to really learn how to cook healthier. To me dieting has always been just baking or broiling foods but I want to learn how to make delicious healthy meals my whole family can enjoy. I have three daughters ages 30, 18, and 16. I also have 5 granddaughters. My oldest daughter lost her dad to a motorcycle accident earlier this year. She tells me to please get healthy because she couldn't handle losing me too. I've got to lose weight and get healthier not only for myself but for my family. "I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENS ME"

My Goals:
My goal is to change my lifestyle and be a healthier me. I'm no longer calling it a diet just making healthier choices. My goal is to get to come off my 2 blood pressure meds and never go on diabetic meds. This goal will be met with Christ as my strength.

My Program:
My program is to not call this a diet because the first three letters are die. I just want to make healthier choices and exercise more. I want to get to a healthy weight and to become healthier.

Personal Information:
I am a 46 yr old, married woman from Alabama. I have 3 daughters and 3 grandaughters. I've always been an emotional eater but determined to change this with God's help.

Other Information:
My favorite quote is from the Bible- "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me".

When your down to nothing and God is up to something and the devil comes knocking at the door just simply say "Jesus can you get that for me"

Start now. Stay focused. FINISH STRONG! That is my goal for this month and all to come. I find that I start the month strong, then I let life get in the way and lose momentum and commitment toward the last half. That habit has lost more than one race. Starting now I am pacing myself, so as to not tax my bod and throw myself into this cycle again this month, saving some energy for that final thrust. If I fall, “NOW” is when I start back, for tomorrow may never come. I am maintaining focus, for as my friend and FlyLady say, “Focus makes us FABULOUS”. And I have my eye fixed on the target before me to make every step a strong one so I FINISH STRONG in February with an ultimate goal sighted for 2013.

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win” ~ 1 Corinthians 9:24, NASB.

Our race on this journey is our own, and we are our only opponent. Bettering self is the race we run. I don’t know about you, but I find that it is more difficult to run against self than anyone else, for I am overly gracious and give excuse too easily for my falls. So, NOW, “I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified” ~ vs. 26-27. Making myself accountable with hope of encouraging others of you who struggle as I do, this is my prayer for us as we run our race this month.
