My Journey.........

I believe that if you embark on a weight loss program and you really embrace it then it will become a journey that can only benefit your life and everyone in your life. I started my journey 6 years ago and it has helped shape me into the person I am, which I love....but I believe that I can be even better and that is my goal!

I started my weight loss journey many years ago but until my hypothyroidism was diagnosed just before I turned 40 I was a complete failure. After diagnosis I lost 70 lbs over 4 years, a little at a time and maintaining for several months before losing more. I didn't plan it this way, that is just how it worked out. I put about 10 lbs back on by not paying attention and now I am after those 10 and 10 to15 more. If I can do it, I know that anyone can.

2010 is the year I make my health my priority. No excuses to reach all the goals I have set.

2011 is the year that I discover what works best for my changing body due to this new stage of life. Bring it on Peri Menopause!

My Goals:
So much closer to 50 than 40. I was healthier at 40 than I was at 30 so hoping I can say the same for the 50's versus the 40's

My Program:
Drink 10 glasses of water everyday.

Track all my food daily and stay within calorie range.

Cardio at least 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes a day.

Encourage other sparkers which will also benefit and bless me!

Personal Information:
I live in Riverside County, CA and even though I don't like the traffic, smog and all the other stuff that goes with city life, I love the weather and the sunshine, just not every day! I am an outdoors girl that would wither up without a regular dose of sunshine but am finding out I truly appreciate rain.

Other Information:
I am married and in my late 40's. Both of my beautiful children are grown and gone. I have 6 grandchildren that I adore. I have been discovering who I am, other than a wife and mom over the past 8 years. I have rediscovered my love of the outdoors and to be active.

Hi, I am here, just been sooo busy, my boss just left to go to the US for work for two weeks, so it has been a madhouse. I can now relax :) I have been good, and although I have a scratchy throat, hubby's had the flu this week, it doesn't seem to be getting any worse and I am still feeling well enough to walk, walk, walk. I am pushing myself with heavier weights to try and build up my back muscles and Leslie's workouts are a lot slower than Jillian's so I can manage the heavier weight well (if I did them with Jillian, I would be sure to injure myself - that girl moves too quickly!). Sorry to hear you couldn't get the hula hoop supplies, I'm sure you will track them down and be hula-ing with your grandbabies in no time! While you are looking forward to the cooler weather I am the opposite - I can't wait to get out of these layers and into lighter clothes and warmer weather. emoticon

Hope you had a great weekend. My Anniversary dinner on Saturday was nice and I resisted the dessert! Actually, I was too full! LOL! Missed my walking this morning, so I am heading out at lunch in the lovely sunshine, so glad all that rain has gone. emoticon

I see you got your walking in, good job. Here are the names of the two Leslie DVD's I have : 'Walk It Off in 30 Days' and 'Belly Blasting Walk'. I like them both because they each have toning workouts separately to the walks that you can either do on their own or add to the end of the walk - they are both available from Leslie's website (www,lesliesansone.com) for $14.95 each. Have a great long weekend and try and be good with your eating. I have my 26th wedding anniversary dinner this Saturday at my favourite Italian Restaurant - it's going to be really difficult to resist the yummy desserts! LOL! Wish me luck!

Well I reckon, Aunt Flo aside, you need a rest after that mega double workout you did! LOL! That would have done me in. I was never any good at hula hoops, but mind you never had the patience to really keep at it. Let me know how your hula hoop making goes, what material are you using, cane or plastic? I only have two of Leslie's DVD's and both are about 30 mins in length for the walks - which suits me down to the ground for time as a good morning workout. I really like them both. I will get the proper names of them tonight when I get home and let you know tomorrow. I did the Burn 30 workout this morning which is the weights training one - goes for 30 minutes and then I added 1 mile (15 mins) from the Belly Blasting walk (other dvd) just so I was sweating enough to satisfy me! LOL!

Two workouts! Phew, makes me tired just thinking about it - good for you. You haven't lost weight but inches because you are getting lean and toned (more muscle - remember muscle weighs more than fat - so thinner but still weigh the same). That's got to be good for your metabolism :) Yes, it is raining on and off now, but at least there are periods of sunshine. I got up and did Leslie's Belly Blasting Walk and followed with Mat Routine 2 which is on the same DVD - this one is 10 minutes of plank and lower back work - really feel good right now, I can still feel my metabolism firing! WOO HOO!!! Keep going strong and will touch base again tomorrow emoticon
