How I Got Here...Now What Am I Going To Do About It?
HOW I GOT HERE I wasn't always overweight. I started gaining my weight during my first pregnancy...50 lbs to be exact. I ate what I wanted and didn't worry about gaining. I should have. I didn't take off the weight once my daughter was born. But I should have. I carried that weight, give or take a few pounds, for 7 years until I was again pregnant, with my son. I joined Weight Watchers and followed their pregnancy program during the whole pregnancy. I did very well and managed to weigh in at my starting weight after my son was born. I had only gained and lost baby weight. You would think that I was smart enough to just keep on going and lose the rest of the weight. No...6 mos later I was pregnant again. I gained about 20 lbs with this pregnancy and didn't bother to lose this weight either. Thirty nine years later I still carry that weight and more. At my highest weight I weighed 281. Now because of nagging medical issues like Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and Diabetes taking off the weight is more important than ever. Not only is it life threatening but also a matter of quality of life. I don't have a choice, I have to lose the weight. NOW WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? Well, that's a good question. First off...I HAVE to get serious. I mean REAL serious. For all those people out there who know me, they know I'm not an exerciser. I joke about being allergic to exercise, I'm not. I also don't like to sweat but sweating is actually a good thing. My main hurdles are exercise and motivation so working on those will definitely get me started on the road to success. My GOALS for EXERCISE are going to be simple to start. 1. Exercise 3X a week...do anything for any amount of time. 2. Do at least one strength exercise a week. 3. Use the Wii for balance exercises. 4. Walk the dog daily. 5. Track fitness daily. My GOALS for NUTRITION are: 1. Track food daily. 2. No eating 2 hours before bedtime. 3. Drink mostly water and tea. 4. Try new recipes. 5. Eat more whole foods and fiber. My GOALS for WELLNESS: 1. Bedtime no later than midnight. 2. Get up earlier. 3. Eat breakfast within 1 hour of waking. 4. Eat meals the same time everyday. 5. Take medications on time. 6. Make a vision board. 7. Take a "before" pic.
