Being here (at summer's end)

Welcome to Spark and the Thyroid Community Team.

Its a type of printing process, where an image is created on a sheet of copper, using corrosive salts, grounds, burnishing, sanding and scraping. After the image has been refined, its inked and wiped, pulled thru a 1.5 ton hand press with a dampened sheet of paper and felt blankets. During this final process the ink is transferred to the paper.

Its extremely time consuming and challenging as the process is full of surprises that you don't always have the ability to anticipate or control. Many of these surprises are not um... desirable. LOL

Rather like thyroid disease.

Between the Hashi's and Aquatints I should be a Zen Master by now.
Unfortunately, I am not.

Its nice to have a goal... although I can't quite decide if the goal has me.

Thanks for the Goodie Mzz. I actually read an article about Epsom salts helping in a footbath for the dead skin. I will try it myself one of these days. A podiatrist once told me to just use my fingers and just scratch it all off when you've just had a bath or shower. Yeah, right...I have been using Bio-oil every day and seems to be staying softer.
With summer approaching and wearing sandals will make it worse. We will just have to keep scratching away. emoticon emoticon

The iodine will be for 4-6 weeks and then the doc will evaluate my body temperatures and I may not have to go the thyroid hormone route. We'll see. It's just nice to see some light at the end of the tunnel!

Thanks for asking about me! My good news that I just got from the doctor is I do NOT have Hashimoto's! My autoimmune tests were just fine. My problem seems to be with inflammation (due to the thyroid problems?). He's put me on iodine and after 4-6 weeks, I'll go on Nature-throid. I love this doc- everything we talk about is in total agreement! He started me using blue light therapy to get me through the winter. Other docs would have looked at my vitamin D level and said. "That's normal", but not this one! I knew from all the research I've done (I had stage 2 melanoma) that my D level needs to go up. I've had inflammation in my achilles tendon for a long time (know how hard that makes exercise?) So he did some ultrasound work on it and I'm back to walking up my mountain with minimal pain. I get another treatment Wed. and hope I can really get back to my old exercise routine real soon. For the first time in years I feel really hopeful- I've suspected/known I had thyroid issues all my life, but most docs just patted my head and wanted to put me on gosh-awful prescription meds for everything but thyroid. Now I'm working with this doctor on thyroid, diet, exercise-wow!

First diagnosed in 1985, I have learned more about thyroid problems since talking to you than in all the years before. Thank you.
PS Still waiting to hear from doc on synthroid prescription. emoticon
