Lookout world! I'm still here and I am getting it right this time!
Oh, my. Reality check. I have gained back 9 pounds since October 1, 2012. Can't do anything about it except strive to not repeat my mistakes. So I have set my goals for 2013. These are fluid and fluctuating goals, to be evaluated and reevealuated again and again. This ia a list of ideals to strive for. I am human and will struggle and most likely fail at many of them. But that doesn't mean I am a failure. I am challenging myself to be a better person and not be satisfied with the status quo. I am identifying areas where I want growth in my life. Give Gary a positive reinforcement of my love each and every day, be it a love note, an email, or a note in lipstick on the mirror. Spend time in contemplation, find inspiriation, and give praise to God each morning. Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes, striving for 120 minutes on a consistent, daily basis with the caveat of AS MY HEALTH ALLOWS. If I have a migraine, I get a pass. If I have a headache, gently exercise for 10 minutes then evaluate whether or not to continue. No passes or excuses for being tired, depressed, or just not feeling like it. That's being lazy. Try to follow the housework schedule below: Sun- laundry Mon- kitchen & dining room Tues- vacuum Wed- bathrooms Thur- bedroom and dusting Fri- basement Sat- playtime Fufill my volunteer obligation to the best of my ability at the aquarium every Tuesday afternoon. Strive to attend yoga class 4 times a week...will have to slowly build up to this. Start with twice a week. Spend free afternoons creating artwork. Eat healthfully and use the foodtracker on normal weekdays. If I am not exercising on a weekday, aim for a 1200 calorie day. Eat at least 5 fruits and veggies, concentrating on increased veggies. Spark daily including a daily blog. Each night set the next day's goals and evaluate previous day...do I give myself a gold star? Read the Bible in entirety in 2013. Each night read prescribed passages aloud to DH and then pray together. Put $100 a month into savings for my dream whaleswim vacation in Tonga. Desires for 2013 Fit back into my wedding dress by April 26, our 5th wedding anniversary Achieve at least 15,000 fitness minutes for the year Be able to do a cartwheel by end of year As I said, this is a fluid list that I will continually evaluate to see if it is in line with my wants and desires versus my abilities. If you want to know more about me, here is my background: I am now 51 years old and if I've proved anything to myself in life, it is that I am a survivor. I have been through two marriages, each realtionship lasting thirteen years and ending in divorce and leaving me in bankruptcy. The second time my home was forclosed upon. I am permanently disabled with major depression, daily headaches and severe migraines occuring frequently. I have suffered for 19 years and so I am unable to work (and often unable to workout.) I even tried to commit suicide twice. I married Mr. Wonderful, or as I like to call him, SuperGary, in 2008. He is an IT Manager for a 4 star hotel and spa in Boulder. It's an hour long commute each way, but it has it's perks. He needs to lose weight as well and my progress is inspiring him. Woohoo! I have been given a dedicated workout room in my home basement that includes a Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports, and Wii Active 2, which I dearly loved when I was doing it. The point system kept me striving to do better each day. I also have a recumbant exercise bike, a Gazelle glider, a BOSU ball, and an old but effective Health Rider. I am doing well using the gazelle on a daily basis, up to 2 hours each day. However, despite all this at my fingertips I currently find group yoga classes to be my driving force right now. I give thanks to God and my wonderful husband for providing this to me. Now I need the ability to fully utilize what has been so bountifully given to me. I want to be able to kick some butt with all that equipment. There are a lot of good people and resources here at my fingertips. After getting over the the "why me?" and the "woe is me, " I am trying to redevelop a positive focus and remember that every little small change I make is leading to the big result of a healthier, fitter me and a stronger, more fun marriage. I'll also remember that God has not abandoned me. On the contrary, it is the other way around and I need to put things in order there as well! I am trying to deepen my faith, accept responsibility for what happens in my life, and be grateful for all things.
