Muin gets Sparky

I've been a member of SparkPeople for over four years. It's been a bit of "Two steps forward, one step back," and this last couple of years have been particularly tough. I have issues with stress eating, and am appalled that I can put back on in a month every one of the 30 pounds I worked so hard to lose for years. I am trying to move beyond dieting to make lifestyle changes that stick. I want to move into my 50's and 60's fit and healthy, and to grow old with grace.

To be healthy and fit.

Life goals:
-have some fun
-get my priorities in order

Health goals:
Follow doctor's plan for physical issues.

Nutrition goals:
-Eat whole foods, few processed foods, and little meat or dairy.

-Drink 8 cups of water a day.
-Take a multivitamin & calcium daily.

Exercise goals:
-8000+ steps per day increased to 10,000 (with no pain) by Thanksgiving
-Active living throughout the day
-At least 15 minutes every day of regular exercise

My Program:

-Moving for a few minutes at a time every half hour during my work day;

-A variety of exercises daily--whatever suits my mood of the moment and gets me moving;

-Staying motivated through the tough times;

-Being part of this FANTASTIC online community for support and motivation.

Personal Information:
I live in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee.

My house is a mill built in 1869. I live there with a black cat, speckled dog, bearded husband, and innumerable spiders.

Diet Start Date: January 2008 (Weight Watchers)

10 pounds: August 15, 2008

15 pounds: September 26, 2008

10% of body weight: November 21, 2008

20 pounds: December 16, 2008

25 pounds: February 27, 2009 (Wedding Weight!)

[then a long plateau followed by defeatist thinking, overeating and weight gain...look for new milestones in the very near future! My weight loss graph is going in the right direction again]
