Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

I have found a new way of thinking -- a new way of being. Having finally reached stage three of my sparkpeople journey and making it to my half way mark, i realize that there is NOTHING that can hold me back.

Even though I have lost, gained, gotten in crazy good shape, gotten sick and slightly depressed... i have realized that as long as i keep myself facing in the right direction, even a step back doesn't undo all the work i have done and will continue to do once im back on ...
I have found a new way of thinking -- a new way of being. Having finally reached stage three of my sparkpeople journey and making it to my half way mark, i realize that there is NOTHING that can hold me back.

Even though I have lost, gained, gotten in crazy good shape, gotten sick and slightly depressed... i have realized that as long as i keep myself facing in the right direction, even a step back doesn't undo all the work i have done and will continue to do once im back on that horse!

Here's a little secret... i have done sparkpeople twice before under different names, and each of those usernames tried time and time again to lose that weight; but the second i started slacking I scrapped it all and swore to start fresh... another time.
This time i recognize that it is not a fast OR easy process. There will be slip ups, there will be set backs, but if i'm climbing to the top of a mountain, do i keep going back to the bottom when things are tough? No! I either work through it or camp out as long as I have to and then keep climbing when I can!

Here's to reaching the TOP.

I think it's very exciting that you ran a half in December!! How many half marathons have you ran? One of my goals this year is to run my first, the longest I've done is a 10K. I think there's one called the "Downhill Slacker Half Marathon" in the mountains this summer that I feel will be a good first try. I'm debating running a 5K next weekend, and I've committed myself to make running a priority this year. I'm trying not to go more than three days between runs. So far, so good! Glad to see you're back

Glad to hear you're keeping up on your races! My June race was actually July 4th, but I'm set up for another one this Friday so I'm still averaging one a month haha. I feel the same way about getting in run time and races, but not actually training. At first my goal was just to get out there and run because I had never done it, but now I think I need to focus on actually training and improving my time. I have a challenge to ride 100 miles on my bike by Sunday and I'm only 45 miles in, so I'll mostly be riding this week, but hopefully I'll focus a little more on running next week.

How did your weigh in go? I am technically on week two but I'm going to start over from the beginning since I haven't actually been following the videos. I need to find a good time to fit them in since I already have a good block of time dedicated to my regular work out schedule. Right now I'm focusing on getting my running speed up and just added a speed training day to my regimen.

Have you always done weigh-ins on Fridays? I'm thinking about changing my day from Monday to Friday but I think that if I do, I might not hold myself accountable on the weekends.

Do you use the site's calorie tracker to stay inside your calorie range? Hope you're having a day of good choices :)

Thank you for offering your encouraging words. It feels good to know that there is someone out there in the same boat I'm in, struggling not fall back into old habits. I would love to have a fitness buddy to help keep each other on track :)
