I know my family requires and deserves a Mom/woman who is strong, confident, and fearless. I have 60 pounds to lose and the countdown begins today! I booked a cruise for our 10 year Anniversary for September 2015 which will be a huge motivation to get into shape over the summer while on maternity leave.

My Moto from Spark: Become a "Bounce Back" Believer

Progressnot perfectionis important. To be successful, you don't have to always make perfect decisions and have perfect days where things go exactly as you planned. If you eat more or exercise less than you wanted to one day, you can make up for it over the next several days if you want, or you can just chalk it up to experience and move on. Remind yourself that what happens on any one day is not going to make or break your whole effort. This is not a contest or a race, where every little misstep could mean the difference between winning and losing. Its your lifeand youll enjoy it a lot more when you can keep the daily ups and downs of your eating and exercise routine in perspective. - Spark

Dealing with Set Backs
A fragment of a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson is telling:
"Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could. Some blunders and
Absurdities have crept in. Forget them as soon as you can."

"Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill."
-Muhammad Ali

"If there be righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character. If there be beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home.
If there be harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there be order in the nation, there will be peace in the world." -Serendip

"This is where you will win the battle in the playhouse of your mind." Maxwell Maltz

"I always loved running... it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs." ~Jesse Owens

Things To Ask Before I Emotional Eat:
-How big a deal is this, anyway? If I knew I was going to die in a week, would this be something I would want to spend this minute of my remaining time on?

-Will any bad things happen if I postpone thinking about this until I have more time to figure things out?

-Do I have all the information I need to decide how to respond to this? Do I really know whats going on here, or am I making assumptions?

-Am I worrying about things that might not even happen? What do I need to check out before taking action?
Is there anything I can do right now that will change or help this situation?

-Am I trying to control something I can't, like what other people think, say, or do?

-Have I really thought through this problem, and broken it down into manageable pieces I can handle one-at-a-time?

Lessons Learned On my Journey - A Continuous Work in Progress June 2008
1) Do not let the past define who you are today. Forgive yourself and move on.
2) Whatever led you to food, figure that out so you don't go back. Develop strategy but also know that perfection is impossible.
3) Celebrate your successes instead of focuses on the failures.
4) Change brings uncertainty and that must be embraced.
5) Live in the moment - enjoy the moment - celebrate in the moment. Dont let the uncertain future worry you.
6) Happiness is from within, not the number on the scale
7) Be an optimist; find what you have in common with folks and celebrate the chaoes of human nature.

1. Losing weight is hard!
2. Being fat is harder!
3. I rather be fit and healthy than fat and unhappy.
4. Giving up is not a good option.
5. Set backs are inevitable.
6. Overcoming setbacks can make your stronger (if it doesn't kill you- just kidding.)
7. Stay in the game long enough and eventually you will hit a plateau.
8. Pushing harder doesn't always yield the best results.
9. Listen to your body and take a break when you need to.
10. Reach out to at least one person everyday on SparkPeople. (Friends or strangers, it doesn't matter.) It helps and keeps me accountable. - From Zen Woman - Sparker

One thing that its crucial to understand is that being overweight isnt the cause of your unhappiness, and simply weighing less won't make you feel better about yourself and your life. Its all the things you think about your body that make you unhappy, and its changing those thoughts that will make you feel better and help you lose weight.

Hi - just saw the message below, and I intend to do the Summer 5% Challenge myself. I have done them in the past, and they are highly motivating. I actually have three, like you, but mine all came singly. Mine are 14, 13 and 11, and even though the efforts get focused differently, I think it's always a challenge emoticon emoticon . I don't have any specific goals, but I'm working on that...

OHMYGOODNESS! I realized it had been soooo long since I checked in on the Fit & Pregnant team and was wondering if you had your babies yet. And I see that you did. CONGRATS!! Saw the picture too, they are adorable. And I love the names. My best friend has twins (boy and girl) and she named her daughter Emory, so I was excited to see you used Emory too. Congrats and I hope you are doing well and able to get some rest in there.
