At my last annual check-up, I told my doctor that I would like to lose 25-30 pounds. He was quite frank with me and said that at 46, now is the time to get to the weight where I want to be for the rest of my life. The closer I get to menopause, the harder it will be to lose even 1-2 pounds.

At my last annual check-up, I told my doctor that I would like to lose 25-30 pounds. He was quite frank with me and said that at 46, now is the time to get to the weight where I want to be for the rest of my life. The closer I get to menopause, the harder it will be to lose even 1-2 pounds.

My name is Lorrie and I want to get motivated and stay motivated. I want to get to a healthy weight and feel good. I want to get rid of these aches and pains that Im sure would not be there if I were in better physical shape.

I find it hard to both eat healthy and exercise at the same time. Ive read enough to know that they both go together to get the best benefits, but I usually make time for one and not the other. I have trouble staying motivated after I lose 5-10 pounds.

I have been a Spark member since September of 2012, but really only used it to get new recipes. This time I am making the choice to work harder at eating healthier and getting a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio 3 times a week. I dont want to set myself up for failure right before the holidays so Im going to ease myself into it. I wont get upset with myself if I go a little over the next few weeks, but after the holidays, it is game on! Ive read so many success stories. If they can do it, it can be done. I want that for myself.

I am 58 and past menopause but have a different view from your Dr. I started Sparks people 3 weeks ago and by logging all my nutrition and exercise I have lost 7 pounds already. I'm sure your Dr just wanted you to go with the current motivation but please don't get sucked into thinking it can't be accomplished later as well. Have faith---you are being smart doing it now!!
