At 51, I feel better than I did in my 30's. Thanks, Spark, for . . . EVERYTHING!

I went from rotting in the recliner to enthusiastically walking 5K's in four months. Now I run!

See Sally set sail on the journey of a lifetime: becoming physically fit at the age of 50! I have a love affair going with food and an absolute terror of being hungry. A mom to twin thirteen year-olds and a fourth and fifth grade teacher, I need to get my act together so that I have the energy to enjoy these extremely important, consciously chosen roles. My Goals:
4/4/12: I've lost 47.9 pounds and am hovering within my goal weight pound. I've been at it for just under nine months. I feel so good. Spark works if you work Spark. I think, more than anything else, I feel so glad about this because I've done it in so healthy a fashion. That is truly only because of what I learned here at Spark and because of the support of SparkFriends and my healthy family and friends. 7/10/11: Lose 30 to 50 pounds, with the first goal being to lose 30 by February 5, 2012. Gain energy and confidence. Become active again! 11/12/11 Update: 32.6 pounds gone. New goal is to lose 10 more and see how I feel. Next goal after is to maintain within a 5 pound range for six months. I continue to gain energy and confidence. I've become extremely, jubilantly active again. Hallelujah! 2/18/12 Gooooooooal! My Program:
Currently, I am carefully tracking my food and excercise. I am thrilled to have found this program. I have been looking for an affordable weight loss and fitness program for quite awhile now. Free? Amazing and APPRECIATED!!!! 11/12/11 Still happily tracking food and exercise. It WORKS. I plan to continue through at least six months of maintenance, and I plan to continue participating in Spark forever to help others get their lives back as I've been given mine.
Personal Information:
A native Texan, I have lived in Austin since entering UT in 1982. It is a great place to be from--especially in the summer when "from" is the operative word, and my family and I leave for cooler climates.
Other Information:
I'm really grateful for this program and for the support I've already received from many members. I hope to participate as actively as a full-time teacher, mother and wife can. For the moment, I find the site just a bit overwhelming, so please be patient with me if I don't respond to messages promptly. 11/12/11 Update: I'll happily help anyone with questions about the site, and I will gladly say that, though I've mastered it, I still discover new, helpful aspects constantly.
