January 8, 2008 was the beginning of my journey with Sparkpeople. FIVE years now and I remember it well. So determined to utilize this great opportunity to lose weight - FREE - and allowing myself to call the shots. I taught myself how to be honest about what I eat. I learned to eat so much healthier through so many good recipes. I played and studied this website with its multitude of resources and felt I hit a gold mine. It was up to me to start digging!
Beginning weight was 180 as I watched the pounds slowly melt off. I remember the first person who noticed and asked me directly if I'm on a diet cause I'm looking good. What a feeling it was.
The clothes became loose, the backache went away, the energy level increased and my best weigh-in was at 152. Almost 30 pounds lighter. WOW, I was feeling good. I'm big boned so 152 is a good weight. I even got into a size 7 pants!
I'm back today and every day again. I know the routine and I know what I need to do to lose the 15 pounds I've gained back. I can't think of a better day to start than on my anniversary.

Weigh 150 consistently

Continue daily log-on with my SP family - nutrition count, fitness and to give and get support

Make time for MYSELF to work out. Get rid of stress and frustrations of daily life

My Program:
common sense... so simple yet complicated....

Burn more than I take in

Walk at LEAST 10,000 steps/day when ever I can

Less carbs, more protein

Do not exceed daily cals

Give and receive using this wonderful SP world

Personal Information:
I want to age with grace not excess weight.

30 pounds ago, I didn't know where to go. Finding SP has been my little miracle. I FINALLY TRULY know what I need to do.

So good to hear that the new job is going well. We are doing great. Not losing as quickly as I would like but at least we are not going the other way. We will be near Chicago tomorrow with some RV friends for a week. So we will be doing the Windy City. We'll be heading back to Kalamazoo so Bill can see his Dr. on Oct. 9. After that we will head back to the East Coast to be with family and see other Drs. and Dentist. We'll spend the holidays then head to the Keys. Keep in touch. emoticon

It's been awhile since we last messaged. Hope all is well and the new job continues to go well. We've had a change of plans since my husband needed some medical attention so we didn't make to Newfoundland this year. We've been hanging around Mich. and will head to the Upper Peninsula in a couple of weeks. I've been walking most days and have really started to watch I eat. If fact, we've decided to go Vegan as much as possible. Only a few days on and so far so good. Take care my friend. emoticon

Hope your new job is going will. Not doing real well with the diet but I did walk more than I normally do. We're off this week to see Drs. and the kids in Virginia. We're leaving the motor home in MI since we have to come back here for my husband's high school reunion. Then the plan is to head to Newfoundland for the summer. Take care. emoticon

Happy Easter. Hope all is well. I'm back sliding a bit since we've been going out too much but I'll be back on track later this week. We're in Benson, AZ which is near Tucson visiting more friends. We'll be heading out later this week and will get a chance to be on our own until mid month. That should get me back on track. Take care. emoticon
