Fitness Minutes: 8,375

My Goals:
I've been overweight ever since I got a sit-down job in 2006. Sit at my desk all day, stress out, come home feeling mentally exhausted, which my body confuses for physical exhaustion and hunger, and I eat because I feel entitled. I realized I've been struggling with seasonal depression for some time now. In addition to losing about 40 lbs., I want to become a respectable runner, take up ballet again, and get my life organized. I need to start keeping a clean house, getting things done on time, pay off my debts, and get into graduate school. Basically, I want it all.


My Program:
I took up running in August of 2008, started seeing improvement in September, and got lazy in October. In December, I got sick, SAD kicked in hard, and that was the end of it. In March 2009, my Wii Fit told me I was "obese" for the first time. NEVER AGAIN. I started running again, at least 4x per week, and have thus far been very good. I also changed my diet pretty radically. I miss chicken fingers and peanut butter cups, but I feel much better now.

Ballet is a lifelong passion of mine. I practice on and off. I'm not taking any classes this semester, but I want to get back into it next semester, hopefully with a better body for those little leotards. I'll never be a prima ballerina, but I really would love to perform for an audience someday.



Personal Information:
Located in NJ. I work full time and go to school half time for my MAT. Also working on building a strong application for a linguistics PhD program in a few years...I have some work to do.

    I thought you would get a kick out of this:
    The other day we had a sub in Ballet. Another trainer from the gym, she had a ballet background, but obviously had not taught ballet much, and didn't know our level. She did one combination in the center that included Pas du Chat. "I don't know why, but this step always makes me think of a cat, " she said. (COULD IT BE BECAUSE THAT'S THE NAME OF IT???) Finally, she asked the class if we had any requests for what we would like to do.

    Thanks for your encouragement on my page today! I am glad to hear you are hoping to do a marathon -- that is a great goal! I ran one in 1997 and haven't done another since, although I would still iike to.

    This week I am doing a big wedding cake (to feed 350-400) so temptations abound! Those cake trimmings really call my name, ya know? After this week my summer will officially begin as we head up to the farm in the Poconos. There we work sun up to sun down, which keeps me out of the kitchen and off the couch!
