Brenda, that is so funny! My niece's husband is Craig Wilcox. He has been with the zoo for long time. He works with the elephants that are considered dangerous.
When my husband and I were there 8 years ago we attended the black tie fundraiser they have each year at the zoo and we had a blast! We drove down the coast to visit my brother and sister in law and my other niece that vacation, they live in Bay area of California. It was a wonderful vacation.
I used to live just off Pearl Street on North 41st. The kids used to go to the park all the time and loved the seals and otters. Our neighbor worked at Point Defiance with the Elephants but I can't remember his name. Of course he is long retired by now. My middle son lives on North 39th, a few blocks closer to the park.
My husband and I moved from Tacoma when the gangs started moving into our neighborhood and crime was getting rampant. I could hear gun shots from our house just about everyday. We were living on South 41st then.
I was born in Lebanon, TN but my mother moved us to Seattle when I was two and my brother was five so we had no extended family growing up.
Now I live alone 80 miles from Tacoma towards Portland, OR in a small town and I like it much better.
