I am 58 years old, live in the northern tip of NH, have been married to to my DH for 30 years and have a son who will graduate from culinary arts school as a chef and a pastry chef.

I had a hip replacement a year ago. My has increased 100 fold and it's incredible. I have discovered hiking and love it.

My goals have changed a lot lately. I have learned that that it isn't about weight loss, the the journey to a healthier lifestylye. I am also learning to like the person on the inside. She is someone that I want to get to know and never knew. I have goals that aren't about weight, exercise or nutrition related which is totally new for me.

My goals for this Spring Challenge are:
1 Be able to hike at more.

2. Walk a 5K.

3. Use the birthday gift my parents gave me (a local atlas) to check out the local trails.

My long term goals are:
1. To get upto a calorie range of of 1300 (or slightly less)-1650 calories a day.

2. I will log everything I eat (good or bad). I will also strive to increase my fiber intake.

3. I will track my fitness on a daily basis.

4. I will do 60 minutes of cardio on good days and no more than 15 minutes on not so good days - 6 days a week-no excuses. Anything extra is a bonus!

5. I will strength train a minimum of 3 times a week-no excuses.

6. I will work to improve my mobility issues and become stronger along the way.

7. I will make every effort to reach my 5% goal
.
8. I blog at least 1 times a week.

10. I will post these goals in a place where I can see them on a daily basis.

11. I will weigh-in weekly.

Fitness Minutes: 78,385

My Goals:
1. Learn to see the person hiding inside!

2. To reach my goal weight of 160 pounds. I will see how I feel when I reach that weight about going further.

3. Fit into a size 12 (or smaller) jeans .

4. Swim 10 laps with ease.

5. Complete the Spring 5% Challenge and lose 5% of my body weight.


My Program:
I have started tracking all the food I eat each day. Quite an eye opener let me tell you.

I joined the local gym and will begin circuit training there. I will also do weight training and use the lap pool on alternating days.

    Every time I got the flu shot I got very sick. So we don't get the shots any more, and we don't get the flu either.

    I hope you will soon be feeling much better and be able to come out and play. Benny wants to show off the elk in the back yard, and then you can chase them!! emoticon

    I'm so glad you had the flu shot. Even though you have the flu now, studies have shown that those who have had the shot usually get well faster and their symptoms aren't as bad. I sure hope that holds true for you!

    You get lots of rest and Get well soon. We can get the plane off the ground. Don't you worry about that. I see lots of chicken soup is on it's was to NH -- dog sled I think. That will help you recover your health and get back into the cockpit quickly. We really could use the help landing......
