I reached my goal weight. Whaaaatt??

I know. I can't believe it either. I even did it by my goal date.
How? A lot of hard work and a change in a medication I was taking. It took about eight months for my metabolism to start working again. Once it did, I turned up the intensity on my activity: adult co-ed indoor soccer, coaching Park & Rec soccer, running and 40 mile bike rides. I also re-evaluated my diet. Once it did, I turned up the intensity on my activity: adult co-ed indoor soccer, coaching Park & Rec soccer, running and 40 mile bike rides. I also re-evaluated my diet. Even though I was eating the right stuff, I was just eating too much. I've started eating much more cleanly and soup is now my friend.
The highlight of my summer was participating for the second time in Pedal the Cause to raise funding for research at the Siteman Cancer Center where I work. Last year I rode 25 miles; this year I rode 37.5. I had a great time and we raised $2.7 million this year alone.
I highly recommend getting involved in devoting time for a cause like this as well as an interest in cycling. It's much easier on the body than running and the calorie burn is amazing! After getting a bike, it's FREE! and the time spent outside and meeting great new people is invaluable.
With all my hard work, I've been able to accomplish all the goals I listed:
*ultimate goal: lose 50lbs
*current goal: get out of my fat clothes and into my not-so-fat clothes {I've gone from a size 16 to a 10/12 and I've taken all the clothes that I stored away out of the closet. I even pulled off a bikini on our cruise in October}
*focus on realistic 10% loss achievements
*run my first 5k: March 2011
*get my chocolate cravings under control
*get my sugar cravings under control
*modify my feelings about food
*exercise more regularly

So as this year comes to a close, I have a lot to be thankful for and a new group of goals to set. I wish everyone a happy, healthy, fantastic holiday season!!!

MOST CURRENT ATTEMPT TO GET MY LIFE TOGETHER.......
March 2013: I wouldn't say I fell off the wagon... just getting pulled behind it. About two years ago, I took a job 2 miles from my house, but it was one of the worst jobs I've ever had. It was a swing shift between evenings and midnights, which wasn't what I applied for when I took the job. I don't need to tell you what that does to a diet and mental well-being.

I am also struggling with a thyroid condition that the doctors recognize, but they say it's not bad enough to treat yet. I feel like giving up on losing weight most of the time, but I don't want to give up on myself.

As of December 2012, I started a new job that I LOVE. It's a day job in a Cancer Center laboratory where I feel like I'm making more of a direct contribution to patients' care and my skill is recognized.

So even though I may never get rid of this weight, I'm still focused on making me a better me. I'm back on the food tracking wagon and I'm doing pretty good at waking up at 3am to work out before work. I'm still running and have plans to run the USO Mud Run for the third time this coming June. I am still trying to find a doctor that will help me with my condition; so until then, onward and upward.

I'm 30-something. Graduated college with a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science in June '09. For 5 1/2 years, I attended school full time and worked full time. I survived on 4 hours sleep a day. I worked in a warehouse where I was active at least 9 hours a day. Lost a lot of weight; felt pretty good about my self. School got harder, started working in a clinical setting, any physical activity ceased to exist. Then, I graduated. Around the same time, I had an unwanted house guest. I pretty much lived in my bedroom for 7 months and stuffed my face with chocolate to cope with the stress. I have a great job now, my house guest is gone, and I want to get my life after school going. My fingers are crossed for a positive outcome :)

Thanks KatieLynn! Just figure out what you like doing. Everything I'm doing is fun! The weight loss is an added bonus. My goals are more accomplishment driven than weight loss driven: "This year I plan to participate in 5 5Ks and I will participate in at least one biathalon." Find the website for your local running or cycling stores. They always have an event calendar of races that you may not find on sites like Active.com. For example, bigshark.com is my local cycling shop and their home page has all the events they sponsor or support. Entry to these can get expensive, so just pick ones you're most interested in. Also check Groupon or LivingSocial. They offer discounts to entry fees all the time. I'm not on Spark all the time, but if you comment on my page, I get an email alert. I'm happy to help any time.
