This is the time of year to make some resolutions, but I think I'm just going to say I will be setting some goals for the year! 1-Lose the final 8 lbs. by Valentine's Day 2-Enter my stuff on SparkPeople at least 5 times a week. 3-Run/Work out at least 5 times a week. 4-Keep things neat and simple at home. 5-Tell my family I love them-often! This is the time of year to make some resolutions, but I think I'm just going to say I will be setting some goals for the year! 1-Lose the final 8 lbs. by Valentine's Day 2-Enter my stuff on SparkPeople at least 5 times a week. 3-Run/Work out at least 5 times a week. 4-Keep things neat and simple at home. 5-Tell my family I love them-often! When I was a 49 year old wife/mom who teaches 5th grade I decided I was tired of jiggling when I walked and starting my day with wondering "what will fit". I made a change and started to take care of my bod. I said I was not going down without a fight and that statement still applies Now I'm 51. I don't jiggle when I walk, and in the past year have been wondering "what will fit" but it's because the clothes are too big. Since the time I started with SparkPeople, I've gotten to where a work out or a run is part of my day, have been part of 3 marathon relay teams, participated in a Muddy Buddy race, and a Sprint Triathlon-Tri for the Cure.This year was also a transition from running the shortest distance in a relay, to doing 2 half marathons, one in Denver and one in Vegas. Last year I did the shortes stretch of the relay for the Denver Marathon. What a difference a year can make! I think I'll be signing up for the Colfax Half Marathon in May, 2011. Never in my dreams would I have thought I'd travel a fairly long distance to run a race. My outlook on life is still "I'm not going down without a fight", but am currently fighting and winning. I'm so liking the new me. I just can't tell enough people about SparkPeople. It's a real gift to have the support of people who are in the same fight (on their own terms, of course). Can't lie...being 51 now is good. Going Strong and certainly not Giving Up!
