The Only Way to Truly Fail is to Never Try!

I recently stopped smoking after 23 years and decided to start running. I want to lose weight and look as good as I feel. I have 3 children the youngest is 3 and the others are teens. I also have a granddaughter who is a year. I want to be able to play and keep up with them and my ultimate goal is to be able to run a 5K this year and maybe even a half marathon.

My Goals:
My goals are to lose weight and learn to keep it off. To continue working out at least 6 times per week. To run a 5K and anything else I can come up with that will lead to a healthy life.

My Program:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday- running
Strength training 7 days a week
Tuesday and Thursday cardio of some kind depending on my mood.
Weekends-strength training only no cardio

Other Information:

Welcome to the Denver Broncos team. Do you live in the Denver area? I grew up in Denver but now live on the east coast, but my blood still bleeds orange and always will!

Best of luck on your quest for the 5K. I ran my first one in 2012 at the age of 55, and plan to run in at least one race a month in 2014, plus compete in my first 10K in May! Once the "bug" hits, you'll be all set!

Congratulations on your accomplishments! I, too, smoked for years!!! 33 of them and I quit 6 years ago. I could kick myself for the damage I probably did to my body but I am glad I no longer smoke. It does feel great, doesn't it?? Best wishes to you in reaching your goals!
