This is a new beginning for me. I quit smoking just over 16 months ago and during these non smoking months have gained 70 pounds. As each month passed I became more and more upset with myself as the weight continued to climb. My promise to myself was that when I felt secure that I had truly kicked the habit of smoking, I would work on loosing the weight.

So today, I am feeling that it is time to start the jouney. I am very hopeful that sparkpeople will give me the spark to get started and the encouragement to see me to my goal and beyond. I know that it will not be easy for me, I am a food lover, a true foodie through and through. Here in Louisiana, we live to eat, it seems everything about our culture is centered around our food. For whatever reason we gather.... the food is always at the center.

I love to cook and eat good food. Nothing makes me happier than preparing a meal for my family and sitting at table and enjoying the meal with them.

I have always had an enormous appetite, even as a youngster. When I started having my children I had an ongoing struggle to keep my weight down. It wasn't until several years after my youngest child was born that I finally was able to reach and hold onto my ideal weight for a long time.

Then as I grew older, slowly, a few pounds here and there started to accumulate, but never reached over 140 - 145 pounds. I was always able to diet and rid myself of those extra pounds within a month or so. Then I quit smoking and here I am, heavier than I have ever been in my entire life. I never weighed this much even when I was 9 months pregnant with my largest baby. The most I ever weighed during pregnancy was 162. I am so ashamed of myself for letting my weight get so out of control. I need Help to stop feeling sorry for myself and to get a grip on this weight problem.

My Goals:
1. To get my weight down to 125 pounds by October 25, 2011.

2. To become strong enough to go hiking with my daughter's family.

3. To eat healthier


My Program:
1. Following the SparkDiet.

2. Walking daily, weather permitting.

3. drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily.

4. Exercsing at least 3 times per week.



Personal Information:
I live deep in bayou country, about 62 miles southwest of New Orleans, Louisiana in Terrbonne Parish. I am married to my husband of 39 years. We have four children, 3 sons and 1 daughter. My daughter and her husband provided us with our only grandchild who is soon to become 8 years old. His name is Logan, and he is the love of my life!


Other Information:
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. One of my favorit things to do is working in the garden, I loveplanting and watching things grow. I also love to cook, a real foodie, that is why I gained all this weight. I also enjoy sewing, don't do as much as I used to, but still a little here and there gets done.
