This time is for real

I've struggled with weight and fitness my whole life. I was a chubby kid. I lost weight in high school, and then spending 3 years in a back brace for scoliosis (in high school) kept me from being too active, and kept me depressed enough to put the weight back on.
After the birth of my son I realized I needed to really commit to being healthy. I'm a single mom, I'm all he has.

When I went to the doctor to get back on my thyroid medication, and she asked about my family's medical history I was ashamed and embarrassed. I promised myself that my son would never get that look from a doctor that says "oh, you're parents are overweight and on medications? You must be just as unhealthy. There's no hope for you."

My Goals:
I'd like to start jogging a bit more regularly.
I'm still in the losing stage, but my goal is to feel good about each step along my journey.
I need to start adding weights to my fitness routine.

My Program:
I've been vegetarian for 17 years.
Fresh is best - avoid prepackaged foods as best I can.
Cut down sodium.
Stay within calorie intake range for the day.
Exercise 30 min minimum every day!

Other Information:
I'm starting this blog to maintain accountability.
