I have had a weight problem ever since I was a child. I remember how focused my family was on it. When I was in fifth grade, I met a pediatrician who got me a diet I could manage myself and I became pretty empowered and lost a great deal of weight. When I went to college, when most people gain weight I lost and kept it off pretty well until after my first child. About the age of 40, I mentally became tired and threw in the towel. Unfortunately the pounds started to sneak up on me. At 55 I got on the scale and realized I could be considered obese. Also my blood pressure was up and my liver enzymes and my calcium levels were out of whack. I knew I had to gain control again, or I won't be able to enjoy my grandchildren.

I been with Spark People for just over five years now. I am not where I want to be but my doctors have seen a radical improvement in all the things that were going bad. I had a very emotional year a while ago and gained back a good chunk of what I lost. I try not to dwell on that. I am still working toward my goal weight but enjoying life as it comes. I appreciate all the support that I have received from my Spark Friends and am committed to keep at it.

emoticon for being happy for us. Sure was a huge relief to hear his heart is ok. After having stents put in two arteries 7 years ago, it was worrisome.
Sounds like you had a nice dinner out too! They have several restaurants there on that lake in the pic I posted. So crowded, long waits to get in there. I saw a pic online of the place you talked about...such a pretty view of the river. They even had sunset pics on the page for the guide and fishing service of Allen's. Hope your weather is much better! Looks like ours is getting ready to really get hot next week. Too soon for me! I like the mid 70's we've been having! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! emoticon

We have a mall nearby if we want to walk indoors, but like you would prefer outdoors. Even we had to cut short or not go out at all in our weather this weekend! Brrrrrrrr, windy and 50's! Yes, that seems balmy for you, but for us wimpy Floridians that is like 25 degrees to us! Next couple nights going down to the high 30's! I just can't get warm enough!
Have a good week! Keep moving! emoticon

I thought you worked at a school? Is it next to the hospital you walk at? It sure is nice to have that kind of place to walk inside for endless amounts of time. Only thing is I would be worried to pick up a germ! We are supposed to get a temp change of a drop of 25 degrees by end of next week. Geeze! Was really enjoying this 80 degrees right now! Hope you don't get anymore bad weather! More emoticon and warmth.
