Losing After Menopause

I'm a mother of 3 grown children, 1 granddaughter and another grandchild expected in June 2014. In my late 50's and since closing my brick and morter business almost 7 years ago, getting no exercise. Needless to say my butt has grown the size of my chair.

I've been a Realtor in Silicon Valley for over 22 yrs. and as I get back into it more and more, I'm more and more conscious of my health and my weight. 2 yrs. ago we moved to Palm Desert, and I am fastly becoming a 'desert rat'. ...

I've dieted off and on my whole life. I've put it on and taken it off more times... This time I'm starting slow, changing habits first, then I'll worry about becoming more structured in my weight loss efforts.

My Goals:
I would like to lose approx. 70 lbs. for the last time. I would like to be an older, sexier, skinnier senior.
I would like to improve my health to last to a ripe old age, so I can keep up with my new grandchildren and great nephews and niece. LOL

My Program:
I am changing habits slowly trying to make them last for a life time. I'm hoping to just start with the baby steps, leading to more of a structured plan of action later. Already I can see just the difference going back to tracking is making.

Personal Information:
Originally from Penn. I have been in Calif. so long I may as well be native. I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since moving here when I was just 16 and heavy.

I have 3 grown up children that I adore, am caregiver to my mother who lives with us, and significant other to a very good roommate.


Other Information:
I don't get much chance to watch movies or anything. I do a lot of online self education for the businesses I own and for self improvement (I need quite a bit. LOL)
Music of choice is country, easy listening, and oldies but goodies.
TV- I love comedy, lighthearted stuff, and good sitcoms where I don't have to think.

Thank you for the goodie and the note you added with it!

My fitness minutes are from when I do big projects like the fence in the yard and raking leaves or digging holes and cutting down trees or cleaning the garage...etc!

After doing that for 6-7 hours a day.. I do not use my total gym..yet perhaps I should!

It is rewarding to see that you follow my posts and activities here on SparkPeople.. It helps me with the sense of community..and I like that feeling! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you for the SparkGoodie! I did not see it until now. I have been having trouble with the internet and being able to post/blog etc. I went to the cable company and complained. I learned that my modem style was outdated by 6 years!

To answer your question.. Yes..I am on a 'deadline' ! I have learned that Goals can be reached much faster if they have a 'focus point' or..a deadline! This way I can stay more focused because I need to work on that Goal daily! I do the same in my business as well as in all of my endeavors!


My 'Secret' to staying Motivated is this...(and promise me you won't tell anyone else..Okay?)

L I F E ! ! ! I enjoy Life! As such . .Life is much better when my body is at its best . . and I am responsible for that! Whatever that 'best' is. . I am limited as to what I can do . . I am not an Olympic runner . .and I know I never will be . . yet I will do the best I can at what I can!

"Motivation (your motive or your reason WHY you start) will get you going . . Habit will keep you going!" Then your habit s keep you motivated and motivation will create habits..Perpetual motion at its best!
